i have a MBP CD running 10.4.8 and a 5g 30 gig iPod.

if i have my ipod connected to my MBP and then I sleep my MBP and later decide to unplug my iPod, the MBP HD mounts and then the computer completely locks up causing me to have to reboot.

its very annoying and i hate having to reboot unnecessarily. what might be causing this and how can i stop it?

My PowerBook will also wake from sleep if I unplug something while it's sleeping. It doesn't lock up, but I've grown to unplug things (such as my camera or iPod) before I sleep my Mac.

heres a tip...if you pull the powerplug out first, pulling out a usb device will not wake your mbp or pb.

It shouldn't cause the machine to hang. You should see a warning message about the device no longer being there (if you failed to unmount it prior to sleep), but that should be it.
