Web browser app
Opera Mini has received an update, now featuring a new video boost feature. Aiming to provide users with enduring less buffering while watching video, the new video optimization reduces the size of video data. In the description found on the iTunes App Store, Opera states its website compression allows its users to worry less about their data plan capacity, since "your data plan didn't suddenly get bigger and your network didn't magically get faster just because you bought a nice piece of tech." Free to download, Opera Mini v9.0 requires iOS 7.0 or later.
GhostReader 2.0 text to speech software released
AssistiveWare's subsidiary ConvenienceWare announced the release of GhostReader 2.0, text to speech software for OS X. Users can read texts aloud from any application on their Mac, with GhostReader offers full playback control, zoom and word highlighting for better reading support. Text can be imported in a variety of formats, including PDF, Word, plain text and RTF documents. A pronunciation editor, a range of formatting features, and audio file conversion for listening in iTunes are also included.
Available in two versions, GhostReader's Plus version adds speech tags and automatic language detection on top of the GhostReader feature set. Tags can define each word, sentence or paragraph to have its own voice and speech characteristics, meaning different voices, languages and reading speeds can be used within the same text.
GhostReader 2.0 is currently priced at $12, with
GhostReader 2.0 Plus priced at $20.
