Hey does anyone know if its possible to burn cds from finder without being restricted to about 650 meg? I have several files that are like 696 meg and they burned fine from cds from my horrible pc but finder claims there isnt enough space, does it have something to do with HFS+?
p.s using os 10.2.3
thanks in advance

I know this doesn't answer your question, but try making a disk image to burn to CD or using Toast.

That's a fine ansewr, IMO. I was going to suggest Toast also. I like the idea of using Disk Copy though, clever.

disk copy only lists 660(at most) in its default image sizes list for a cd. How about if i make a disk image at about 690 will it burn ok to a cd?

I always use toast and have even burned files without any error that were a full 700mb, I think one was even a drop higher with those desktop files it adds.
stick to toast

Disk Copy should work.
Of course, it depends on how much free space the burner can actually 'see' on that blank disc, even with Toast.

mkisofs and cdrecord in terminal does everything i need. i have not had to do multisession discs yet but ibelieve it is possible. cdrtools is free fast and very stable (ie won't make many if any coasters)

I agree, but I've created more coasters from toast than the disc burner, and I use them about the same. Actually I've been using disk burner more and more. Toast has been crapping out on me lately. :/
