I decided to create a logo for my website which should be in service soon. Like this I can brand the "creations" I release " ) So what do you think?

Logo:

PS In case someone doesn't get it, it's a capital "D" and a small "d" ... in other words: DACE designs.

Obviously not, but my work is....and I'd like to know what people think of my new logo in this forum. So please just answer my question or lock it up or delete it or move it...but don't post if it's not to comment about my logo, thanks.

This isn't GUI Customization. It is being moved to Art and Design.

If I have a website for/about OS X a logo design feedback post doens't go into OS X forums.

Please post in the correct forums.

Thanks

I also read it as Pace designs. That said, I like the D thingy, and if you can make it clearer, it'll work great.

the triangle for the A is very dated looking and not necessary graphic element if you have such nifty D things.

welcome to the graphic design forum. We exist for this kind of thing, just don't ask us to design it for free!

It will disintegrate once you shrink it small.

rule of thumb for logos: if it can't hold up when its the size of a dime, its not a good logo.

(IMO) There are too many design techniques or tricks, if you will, going on.

We have squashed letters, a triangle A, and a loopy double-D with circles to boot... I would streamline the logo. A logo should be easy to understand. I like to do the squint-test to see if I can still easily tell who a logo is for, even with my eyes distorted. Its more like Pace, as boardsurfer pointed out.

I guess I'll have to work on it some more; this a personal logo not a professional logo so I'm not too concern with resizing and such...let just say since it's not meant to be used professionally I can take a few liberties. I want to create a logo with the double D...anyone have any suggestions? Never liked creating logos.

I whipped this up... its a little more professional, but adheres to your triangle-A signature.

Not sure how much I like it though (I am not a fan of double letters), but maybe it will trigger an idea for you.

Ok, I decided to ditch the "double d" approach and try something different.

Latest logos:

Logo 1

Logo 2

Logo 3

Dace, if you look in the dictionnary, is a type of fish (I learned this by accident long after naming myself "Dace" and long before ever deciding to create a logo for myself...a strange coincidence too). So that's one reason my logo is a fish, the other reason is that I'm a pisces....so it suits me (and now you undertsand why the strange coincidence). So what do you think? Oh, also, I stylized the fish a la "Inuit" art (without reference) to sort of represent where I'm from...Canada ")

Much better now.
I think you are on the right path. The font used in the last 2 versions (logo 2 and logo 3) is really hard to read. Try some other fonts.

The first time I looked at it, I thought it was "pace designs", both with lower case letters....

Like the new ones better.

Like the fish MUCH better.
Go with the font on the first one, as the other two are a bit harder to read.
Nice job!!

Show it to like 10 people and ask them what it says. If they can't tell you right away, it means the thing isn't readable.

Those fonts aren't great. The first fish one is readable enough, but it doesn't seem to fit the fish. The other font you just can't read a all.

I think the fish concept works a bit better, though. Trying to do clever things with initials or whatever, rarely comes out like you'd like it to.

Keep going on it, though.

If you design the type into the fish someway it could be cool - as is looks like a logo for a seafood restaurant.

Either that or a t-shirt you'd buy at Hilo Hatties. Of course maybe that's only if you've lived in Hawaii and seen a lot of tourists.

The fish does the job but you should go with a more classic and standard typface. The fish brings the graphic elements. If your font competes with the fish it looks a little confusing.

The fish needs to be cleaned up. Too many different ways of drawing in one tiny fish.

Use simple typography. The fish is the important part. The type just fights with it.

I prefer the previous version. It's more solid. The name is not divided, so it's more legible. Since the Fish is all curves, you should not lessen it whith a funky typeface. Unless you drop the fish and use the funky typeface on it's own. If you want to keep them both, try not to separte the name, put the fish on top or at the bottom. It would make it more solid. Or another suggestion, since the fish is so nice, put the typo on one line and reduce it's size. It could be very small in the bottom right of the fish.

Focus on the Fish. As said before, text should not compete with the image. Use simple typography.

The fish is cool, but I don't think it scales down very well, for a logo more is less...

New logo concept, I sort of "borrowed" this logo.

New Logo:

The logo is in the middle.

what do you design again?

this new one has a completely different look and feel. I still like the fish. How does either relate to your business?

I don't have a business. I just create icons, themes, desktops, small websites etc... for the fun of it and I'd like to attach a logo to those creations. This new logo is "borrowed" because I took it from the stylised pisces sign...if you read horoscopes you might have seen it. If you read the first post with the fish there I explain why the fish.

Yes, I think you're right...the idea is better than the result. There the logo went from being stylised fish to stylised letters.

Yeah I know it's bad, but I couldn't really see a fish or your name in your logo so I tried to add an "A" but it didn't really work. I like the simplicity of your last design, I didn't like the fish...

u have some intersting ideas,,,the fish logo and the new pisces thing are interesting cause of the fish theme

i like the fish logo best...and that dace is a kind of fish make it even better.
i agree with the above, I would also suggest cleaning it up with maybe thicker lines...

The thing about shrinking it to a dime is very true I think...because if you can still see it at that size, it passes the simplicity and clearness design test...so it's not that you'll never use it that small, it's a test to see if the logo passes this criteria...

as for fonts i agree with the above about simple type. Use the classics...timeless...

Nice job

I like the bottom one! Very nice!

not sure you have to crash the type though, I think it work just as nicely with a little space in there.

We have a winnah!
