So I decided to upgrade Mac OS 8.6 to Mac OS 9.1...the installation didn't go well. Mac OS 9.1 CD is corrupted I think. I turned off and back on and thats it...no image on screen. I pressed the "programmers button" (dont ask me why, but I think that made it worse), resetting PRAM, switching memory modules, tried booting of Mac OS 8.6 CD, nothing, erased HD...nothing. What else could it be? What can I do?? Please help.

When you turn on your iMac is the screen black? How do you know that the HD is erased?
I had an iMac DVSE and used DiskWarrior to repair some damage to my HD. When I restarted, I got a black screen. I thought that DiskWarrior had messed up things but it was the video chip on the logic board that had failed. It wasn't worth the cost of the repair. Hopefully that's not your problem, but it might be a possibility.
