Sorry to drag you all back from your MBP highs.

Recently I have been getting poor batter life from my PB G4 1.67 15" SD. I notice that it runs down fairly quickly and has a maximum life of around 1.5 hours. In the past I have been getting 2+ hours easily. On checking the System Profiler I notice that the full charge is saying 2537mAh. I seem to remember it used to say over 4000mAh. It has done 63 cycles.

What is weird is that earlier today when I checked the system profiler said something like 4000mAh for the full charge capacity but yesterday it was saying 2000 odd.

Any ideas?

I have also been having a crash when waking from safe sleep. Computer is running, Power button works but neither keyboard, trackpad or wireless keyboard and mouse work. I also notice that the Airport indicator is not showing any signal when this happens.
David.

Is there a way to do a "battery drain" or something like on the batteries to try to get them to reset? I know a couple of the laptops I work with have a function similar to this, which resets the battery charge, usually helping it Not sure about the macs though.

Ok. A little further information.

I have not done anything to my Powerbook since the last post except sleep it for about 10 seconds. System Profiler now says it has a full charge capacity of 4444mAh. Remaining capacity has also gone up but the draw looks roughly similar (around -1400mA)

Maybe a system profiler problem in 10.4.5?

Yes, have you run the PowerBook G4 battery updater - it will be in your /Applications/Utilities/ folder if you have downloaded it already. It will tell you if your battery can be updated. If it can, then this will probably solve your problems with the battery.
