Is there any way to check (via software) if a 2.8 Mac pro is a 4-core or 8-core? I live in Panama and the apple reseller told me it has the 2.8 8-core on stock, but the price he gave me its too low; just like 300.00 dollars over apple price in the US, so if I check in the "about this Mac" menu will it tell if it's a 4 or 8 core?

thanks

Yes. It should say> Processor: 2 x 2.8 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon

And you can also check the system Profiler.
MacPro 2.8/8-core Xeon/10.5.8/8GB ram. MacBook Pro 2.26/10.6.2/4GB ram/250GB drive. Airport Extreme 802.11n
