WOW!

I wish I was in the audience, buy I probably wouldn't have been invited. Aside from rust, my car still runs fine.

Looks like all the cars were donated by Pontiac.

Just curious; why is she a witch?

Incorrect. Pontiac only paid for customization and taxes, apparently. I assume she, perhaps through the guise of Harpo, paid for them. (I'm trusting theage.com.au on this one, as opposed to the articles in the US that say otherwise. Too bad the link requires reg.)

But why wouldn't you give her credit? It's her show... I'm sure her idea, or at least put into motion by her. Hasn't happened anywhere else, has it? I'm extraordinarily impressed.

I'd like to see any of you tell my mother that Oprah is a witch. You'd be on the floor before you could think.

I couldn't afford to buy 276 friends each a steak dinner. But you're right, that woman has green.

Maybe that was a bad comparison.

Maybe buying 276 friends a beef jerky.

If they were both invited. Which happened on a need-basis.

listen, I'm not one to watch oprah, and i hate that guy dr. phil she used to have on all the time, but seriously anyone who does that much good that consistently is anything but a witch.
Call me ignorant, but I know of no things she's ever done except inspire housewives and give poor people money a chance in life...

This was on TV here this morning and radio today, said the bill for 276 cars was $4 million. 276 into 4m is 14492.75 (calculator says it's 14492.75362318841, but you show me 0.75362318841 of a dollar and I'll show you someone with NO LIFE WHATSOEVER!). So what kind of Pontiac do you get for just under $14,500? Well I just had a lookie around pontiac.com (I'm in the UK, US cars are pretty alien to me) and the only thing that gets under that is a basic Sunfire coupe. Maybe she got a bit of discount off the retail price for doing it on TV, so it might have been something else like a Vibe. No idea what these cars are like, but a free car is a free car, no matter how good/bad it is. Just a shame that they went to a load of hyperactive screamers, boy was I glad for volume control when they put the clip on TV this morning!

It'll be much easier if you just comply.

I can't abide her, her silly book club, sycophantic guests, audience, etc. The way people start crying after some supposedly heart-rendering moment.

Yes, I am heartless.

The cars being given out are the new Pontiac G6, which is the replacement for the Grand Am series (being retired). The Oprah guests get to pick whatever G6, and accessories, they want, up to $28,000 retail, so they're going to get some nice cars, not cheapo stripped units. Pontiac is donating these.
