Who else is going to see this in IMAX? I'm going tomorrow and I'm pumped, I've watched short films in IMAX, but never a feature film.

Plus, they're showing the Dark Knight prologue, made only for IMAX, which I've heard is basically an 8 minute preview.

7/10 doesn't sound bad for an action flick.

Yeah, we saw it tonight too, not in IMAX. We gave it a 7.5/10.

I was in the movie rental store the other day and saw this on the shelf.

Missed that one...think I'll keep it that way

Wife and I went out of our way to rent The Omega Man (I'd seen it numerous times on cable as a kid) and we downloaded The Last Man on Earth.

Honestly, although Omega Man shows it's age, I think I prefer it to I Am Legend.

I saw it last night, it was a really good movie. Very well done, and it kept me on the edge of my seat the whole time. I also saw Alvin and the Chipmunks, which was fine.

The only reason we are alive today is because of Will Smith jacking that Mac laptop into the alien spaceship in ID4.

Is it shot for IMAX? I have seen a couple of films on imax that have obviously not been shot for it, and it was kind of bad, dialogue was like watching tennis.

It was pretty good in IMAX. The only other movie I've seen in IMAX was Attack of the Clones. It was, like you say, obviously not made for IMAX.

I saw "Star Trek: First Contact" for the first time at an IMAX theater. While I know it wasn't made for IMAX, they sure made it work! Scary! So Will, all by himself in Manhattan, will probably look awesome in IMAX too.

I loved the ISS movie in IMAX. Nothing beats _real_ footage from space. In 70mm.

The Dark Knight prologue feature was amazing! It made watching I Am Legend at Imax worth the extra bucks. TDK is the first motion picture that has filmed scenes using Imax cameras.

I liked I Am Legend. I give it 4/5. I always try to watch movies at Imax when they are converted to Imax format, but not when it is a 35mm projection on the Imax screen. Those look horrible.

Oh well, it wasn't really an IMAX movie, it was just a regular print expanded to fit on an IMAX screen. The sound was amazing though and the Dark Knight prologue was almost worth the price of admission by itself.

I'd give I Am Legend 4/5 stars, Smith's performance was quite good and the effects were impressive.

Did anyone else feel the first 2/3s of the movie was really really good, and the last 1/3rd kind of sucked?

Plus all the horrible plot holes? (How did the girl and the kid get the car into NY? All the bridges were down? Should we seriously believe that Will Smith went undetected for three years? What was he saving the bacon for?)

It would have been nice to have them focus on the whole intelligent 'vampires' aspect as opposed to badly CGIed 'mutants' thing they did.

I'll admit, I thought the movie looked great, and I did enjoy Will Smith, but the Omega man has a bit better plot happening.

The New York Times.

Someone filmed it and posted it up on YouTube. It's crappy quality but I'll take what I can get. Hurry up before the link is taken down. This movie looks like a winner.

I didn't really like the movie all that much. It might have been because of the people sitting behind me, but I just couldn't get "into" it.

Really? What kind of movies do you enjoy? I will admit, an audience can make or break a movie-going experience. I don't really enjoy going to movies that often, I wait and rent it and watch it at home.

It might have been because of the people around me. When Robert was hugging his dog to death, in that solemn moment, I heard someone in the theatre ask "is it dead?" I felt like getting up and saying, "You shouldn't be here then!"

I read the book, and I didn't like how, while they borrowed the name, that was about it. It was totally different from what I was expecting.

This is totally random, but I wished the vampires were a little better looking. I don't know why, but thats how I feel.

How did he have water in his house? It takes a lot of people to run a water treatment plant, and I'm going to assume that the water is clean.

Also, how many generators did he have running? I mean, he had to power all those Mac Pros!

I thought the movie was pretty good but Will Smith is usually way too cocky for me to get into movies with him in them. If there is a person on the planet that suffers from narcism it would seem to be Will Smith. I'm not sure I'd want the last person on Earth to suffer from narcism.

So did the move end the same way as the book, essentially?

It's not really an action movie, so the whole IMAX experience is overkill.

There's a difference between loving yourself and worshipping yourself! Will Smith is personification of male vanity.

I agree with others sentiments that the first 2/3s were good and then it went rapidly downhill. I really enjoyed the minimalist use of music and talking in the beginning. The flashbacks were even well done (all too often flashbacks can seem like a cheap way to tell a story).

My girlfriend has read the book and indeed agrees they're not very similar. Actually I wished the movie was even more different - make the mutants even less important - since I find it far more interesting to see a man in this completely isolated environment.

About that trap - I liked to think Will did that to himself, since I don't care so much about the idea of the mutants becoming intelligent. But if he did it himself there should have been a sheet to cover him (so the mutant would not burn).

The effects looked quite cheap too - even those lions and deer didn't exactly look real, more like something from a game.
