7.1 to 7.5.5 on LC 475

When i updated to 7.5.5, on startup, welcome to macintosh splash screen stays blank , and sometimes shudders.
Have i done somthing wrong?
LC475
4MB RAM
160MG HD
OS 7.5.5

The System 7.5.5 Update Software can only update System 7.5.3, it can't update System 7.1.

It's possible he used a full version of 7.5.5 to install over 7.1
I don't think the updater would allow you to update 7.1 to 7.5.5 anyway. Apple installers are smarter than that.
It probably is a memory problem. 4 megs is tiny.

Thanks for the help , i reformated the HD installed 7.1, installed 7.5.3 (extensions off) installed 7.55 update (extensions off), and now it is fine.
The secret was to have extensions tuned off when installing the new Systems.
