Has anyone watched FX's The Riches? It's one of my favourites: an almost absurdly unbelievable concept that. in practice, with excellent performances by Eddie Izard and Minnie Driver and suspenseful writing, delivers in almost every way.
But now it appears as though the show is on the verge of cancellation.

[ big sigh ]
I remember when Arrested Development bit the dust, and The Riches appears destined to follow in those footsteps (though Arrested Development did, at least, get a proper ending).
Why do so many great shows die too early?

I really wanted to like The Riches, but dropped out about halfway through the first season. LIke a 20-minute story told in 60-minute segments. Sorry....this time the public might be right.

It's not so much that people don't appreciate things that are better than reality TV, it's that for the majority of people reality TV is good enough. It gets higher average ratings because the majority rate it 'good', while other things, though they may have more people who rate them 'great' also tend to be more controversial/subjective and so they also have more people who rate them 'bad'.
The TV execs are just playing the averages.

I heard Season 2, because of the writer's strike, was a sort of 'mini series' season, with a bigger plotline to be fleshed out in Season 3...
I'm not seeing any info on Season 3 episodes anywhere though. Hmm...
I hope it's not taken down early like Arrested Development...
