For some 24 hours the "HOTest" site at http://del.icio.us/ has been some "RedFlagDeals.com: Canada's Hot Shopping Deals, Coupons, and Freebies!"
But with only 17 people shown as having saved it.
I usually look at del.icio.us every 2 or 3 hours, and I see that the sites in positions 2, 3, 4,... keep changing as usual. But not the 17-saved "RedFlagDeals" (from Cananda no less).
Bizarre. Do you think they got hacked? Or is this some payola?

You and 16 other fetishists, eh?
But, yeah, it's weird you can do it while only racking up 17 saves

Well, I don't know how these duffuses keep their site atop delicious...
But I take ANY such sites with a grain of salt.
Interestingly, there was a pretty cool blog post (that made it to DELICIOUS the other day) talking about what a growing problem "spam nodes" were getting to be -- on DIGG, etc.
There'll always be somebody wanting to hawk their POS on any popular site.

Hmm... has del.icio.us sold out? Advertising posing as web 2.0?

I dunno. It's been close to 48 hours now that that post with only 17 saves has been at top.
If they were going to sell out... wouldn't they be craftier about it? They could at least use a little PHP script to introduce scads MORE fake "saves".
Puzzling...

Why do people go nuts over this site? I agree, it's nothing special.

It was fun for about a week. I have yet to see any of my friend's del.icio.us rss feeds updated in weeks.

They can't sell out. Yahoo already owns them.

Okay, but could you please explain delicious2 ? i.e., I find no delicious2.com (what I first looked for).

Thanks, Peter, definitely worth looking into.
On the current del.icio.us front:
I notic that today a post of "Search Engines: Search Engines, Directories, Meta Search - Searchweaver" has been atop the "Hot" items all day: despite never garnering more than 67 saves. ???
Anyone know what sort of algorithm "delicious" uses to determine "hotness" of usage? It's something different than what they call "popular" - but the "hot" are what show on their home page.
