not that often. I have work clothes I wear all day, so if I put them on it's for a few hours in the evening. If they get smokey at the bar and smell gross I wash them. Otherwise, not that often.

Banana Republic and some Gap. The fits are actually a bit different though both work for me. I really like the look and quality of the Banana Republic denim - and do like the fit a bit better too. Unfortunately they're also a bit more expensive, but I've managed to obtain mine through various methods that were less financially straining to me

From what I've seen in this thread, they're probably about middle-of-the-road as far as pricing -- $70-$80.

<edit> Oh, and I wash them on occasion. I find I can wear them several times without washing - and they do get more of a 'broken in' feel towards the end of the wearing cycle.

I used to be Gap because they fit nice, but like others have mentioned they wear out very quickly so I no longer buy them. Now I pretty much just wear Old Navy jeans.... they last a long time (a couple of years), they are inexpensive (less than $30), and the fit decent enough.

It's funny reading CMYKid's posts that he doesn't buy a particular jean because too many other people are starting to like them (implying that he likes to stand out in a crowd by wearing "elite"/non-popular clothing). I have NEVER been impressed (or even noticed) when someone is wearing a pair of jeans with a name on them that I don't recognize. Different strokes for different folks I guess.

I don't buy that many $200 jeans, but they're nice to have. Maybe you haven't slipped on a pair of high-end jeans before, but I'd suggest going to Macy's or something, and spending a good long time in the denim department. Further, a good pair of jeans will last for years and years.

I'm a Diesel guy - they last long and feel good. Yes, they are pricey, but i think they are worth it. Regarding that, today I saw a pair for 1500 Danish kroners - that's $295! I think that's way over the top - I usually pay around $160-$175 for diesel jeans.

On a side note, I think its odd, that they are not cheaper in the US for diesel jeans than here - with all our taxes and all..

It is true that I haven't slipped on a pair of "high-end" jeans before; I might have to go to Macy's and try some on, but it is *very* hard for me to imagine buying them for a price that high. I'm willing to try them on, so who knows maybe I will get converted and become one of you crazy people too. But I doubt it... I put off buying caller-id until just this month (I caved and got it for my wife) because I couldn't see paying an extra $7/month for it. It's not that I am hard-up for cash, I just have a hard time spending it on things that in my view aren't worth the cost (jeans for $175+ fit into this category for me).

...you're only partially getting it...its not about the name, I just tend not to want to have too very many things that everyone else has in general. I've had cars that arent everywhere, motorcycle that isn't tremendously common, collect guns that are hard/less common to find and wear clothes that tend to be in the same vein. For me thats far better than walking into most any public place and seeing multiple people with the same thing on. I'm actually starting to get fairly annoyed with seeing clothes that I own on tv characters.

Besides, (giant labels and et cetera aside) there arent too many people besides than other fashionistas that can look at somebody across a room and identify the brand of something, I'm all for wearing things that I like the look of, regardless of brand. Some of my favorites were made for me by a random person rather than a large fashion house.

All that aside, its not the worst thing in the world to have girls come over to you specifically to ask what jeans you're wearing. You get that with higher-end denim because its unique, not because of the brand name itself per se.

...oh yeah, i forgot the answer to the question...I wash them, periodically, but only inside-out, cold water, line dry.

a couple pair only get washed with a special detergent you can buy in denim boutiques.

I've bought one pair of jeans from Old Navy, and they fell apart less than 2 weeks later. . . However, the same company owns Gap and Banana Republic. . Strange eh?

Maybe I'm retarded or something, but buying overpriced, supposedly ‘higher end’ jeans doesn't fit into my concept of dressing differently. It may very well work insofar as differentiating yourself from the Diesel‑wearing crowd is your main aim, but I have to admit, the instant somebody else recognised and/or commented on my oh‑so‑exclusive, bleeding‑edge designer trousers, I'd be embarrassed like anything.

I love Express jeans.. They almost always fit me very well and they're not outrageously expensive. They hold up well too.. I still have some from at least 4 years ago. Now I want to go try some Diesels on... haha

Don't you think when you line dry your jeans they become stiff as boards? I've yet to figure out how to really wash jeans and have them as soft (so to speak) as they are when you first buy them. . .

Unfortunately it doesn't seem so. Gap has a lot more cuts but none seem to be the same. The Banana Republic Utility cut had the following features:

- low rise on the waist
- relaxed in the thigh (but not baggy)
- narrow at the knee
- relaxed leg opening (but not as wide as a boot cut)

I could settle for some Boot Cut but they are tighter in the thigh and wider at the bottom. Ok, but not quite as comfortable. And their Relaxed cut seems to lack the narrow knee. Fortunately I can still cop the Utility cut at the BR Outlet stores ... but who knows how long that will last.

These have been the best jeans I've ever owned. I used to wear Levis and I wore a couple different cuts of them over the years. My Luckys have lasted 10 times longer than any pair of Levis I owned. Best of all, they look better than any pair of Levis too.

They're super sturdy, look every bit as good as jeans that cost 2-3 times as much (they're around $70-100), and come in lots of different cuts. If you have a Lucky store near you, I highly suggest you check them out.

I used to always wear Levis, old style 501's.

I then went to 'Gas' as a brand... very cool if you can find them these days.

I recently switched to H&M jeans. Way more of a fashion brand, but way cheaper. I picked up pairs, all very cool style, good quality, for about 30 Euros a pair... lasting me very well indeed, and look great too! (even if I do say so myself!)

I had numerous people recommend Express jeans, so I stopped at the mall last night on the way home from school and tried on some. I was surprised at how well they fit me, so I bought two pair.

yeah, they're decent, depending on the price, but not a bad buy on sale. a number of the styles are bascially Diesel clones so its not a bad way to get a less expensive version of the same fit.

I'm not specifically acquainted with ths seasons designs, but by Diesel clones i literally mean that designers from Limited want into te denim boutique my friend owns and bought about thirty pair of Diesel jeans on a Limited AMEX. Next season, voila, some surprisingly similar cuts and washes appeared in Express.

G Star Raw has soem great cuts for sure. Wish I could get Gas Stateside.
