So I'm 23, and have hungout a couple times with this girl I met online. She's 19, in college, has a good number of friends, lives off campus with a few roomates. Sunday night we watched a movie with her and her older sister in the movie theatre. Monday night we played trivia with her friends at TGI Fridays.
It's my turn to come up with an idea, since she thought of stuff the last 2 times. I'm trying to think of something fun for us to do. My friends aren't as cool as hers. Mine are older, overweight, and don't go out as much.
I can't bring her to a bar or anything cuz she's 19, so I'm trying to think of some alternative fun ways for us to hangout. She's pretty hot, so I'm kinda nervous and think that the spotline and the pressure is on me.
So far she's been leading the show, she invited me to hangout both times and she texts me on a somewhat regular basis. I'd love it if she just continued to lead and everything, but I'm worried that if I don't put in my half, she'll bail.

What's the weather like in your area? Spending some time together outside is always fun, whether it's window shopping, tossing a frisbee around, or star gazing.

Dinner ups the ante a bit - sounds like you've been hanging out with her and her friends a lot - ask her out just the two of you - a 'date' as we used to call it.

I've found that dinner can be short, and then afterwards what do you do? Most dates I've been on that started with dinner ended with dinner.

I have no idea why anyone would want to hang out in a bar. I've been to a few since I turned 21 and they've been nothing but overcrowded, smoky, get-beer-spilled-on-you, loud music, fat-people-making-out-at-the-end-of-the-bar, messes. And those were the NICE bars. Why not hang out at my place? I have better music, cheaper drinks, and three beds and a couch to pass out on. Who needs a bar?

It never impeded any of my friends' "social lives" (read: ability to drink).

Erm, traditionally, I guess, in the civilized world, you (optionally) go to a bar, than back to one of you or your date's places, and go at it like bunnies.

Because it's OK to let your friend drive drunk and get killed as long as she's of age?

Come up withe 3 themes... say... Mexican... Italian... Picnic... whatever. Give her 3 envelopes. Let her choose an envelope. Then you go and have a nice time. Maybe ONE bottle of wine? If she doesn't drink, how about a music or comedy show later or back to your place.

Buy her a diamond ring and tell her she is the girl you've been looking for and now you have stopped looking and you will LOVE HER FOREVER and EVER and EVER and NOTHING WILL STOP YOU FROM LOVING HER!
NOTHING!
EVER!
EVER!
EVER!
And tell her to not even think about not loving you FOREVER.
Yeah, I think this will show that you have ideas of your own. Good luck sport!

I, by choice, have never spent time in a bar, and never consumed alcohol. I've been on lots of dates, hung out with lots of people, and have never been in want to find something to do.
Married now, so our hang-out time is mostly at home.

Well, I don't read social lives as "ability to drink", nor did I mean it that way. By social lives I mean for people in a young social circle to be able to attend the same places (clubs, pubs, bars, casinos, concerts, other establishments where a liquor licence apply). My particular social circle spans 18-28 year olds. If drinking laws here had a 21 year minimum, that would exclude all my 18-21 year old friends from a LOT of activities that the rest of us are doing.
I guess drinking culture is a lot different here. Drinking does not involved getting blind drunk every time you drink. Nor does hanging out at licensed venues mean you have to drink.

Take her ice skating. Chicks love that.
After that, get her something hot to drink. A good tea or a nice cappuccino would be perfect.

Here's what I'd do.
Listen to everything here.
Then ignore it all, and figure out what she likes doing. For my current girlfriend, it was a night of Family Guy after we grabbed some (crappy) pizza. I also spilled my drink on myself within 10 minutes of our first date starting, which I supposed removed the awkwardness for her (She didn't have to worry about being the big fool of the night.)
And you haven't really asked her out yet. What if she thinks you're a really good friend?

Finding out what she likes to do is a good idea. I would suggest inviting her and a couple other friends to go play pool. Even if you don't play well, it can still be lots of fun. It's a relaxed setting that would allow you to get to know her better without the pressure of it being a date-date. You could all go to dinner before playing pool too.

I don't think that is quite the relationship he wants with this lady (casual sex). I could be wrong, but it doesn't sound like.
On my first date with my wife we went out to eat somewhere casual, went to a driving range (she had never tried it before), and then went somewhere for desert. It was nice and relaxed, and we got to learn a little bit more about each other than we would have by just going out to eat, or dinner and the movies.

It does add a bit of "adventure" to college life as you have to smuggle in alcohol and drink it covertly. But otherwise, I agree.

bowling is an amazing facility for underage drinking if that's what she's into. get a pitcher of beer and a glass of diet coke. bingo, she's in.

I'm not saying that it has to be something cheap and tawdry, but sometimes those situations can get a girl to relax and show what she's really like. Because, and I don't mean this as a flame, at 19 she doesn't know who she is yet. My wife Kim, sweet person that she is, didn't know very much about herself until she was going into her early/mid 20s. At 21 she was a complete wallflower, very shy and almost timid. At that time I was a friend and luckily I was around when she changed, and it was rather sudden. So I kinda sat back for the next couple years and watched her evolve during her sexual revolution (which I was part of), letting her go her own way. Then, when everything started to calm down she realized that I had never flinched, been jealous, or ever tried to tie her down, and she came after me with a vengeance.
