I need to make a video tutorial to teach my friend abroad how to solve a computer problem, plz suggest me a good video recorder which can really record what is taking place on my Mac screen. I hope to get crisp video quality and can upload the recorded video to my blog. Free tool would be the best. Thanks. Btw, I have upgraded my computer to Mac OS Lion.

There are many free video recorders for Mac, but few can run on Lion.

Use the screen recorder built into QuickTime Player.

Screenium works great on Lion. Not free, though.

ScreenFlow is not remotely free ($100) but is the one most pros use, I believe.

I've used iShowU ($20) in the past and it works quite well. For your needs QT screen recording may do the trick, but if you want a few more options and don't want to shell out $100 for Screenflow, iShowU is a good compromise. Lion compatible.

The great thing about Screenflick is the recording performance is super fast.

QuickTime and some other screen recorders compress straight to H.264 so they can't keep up 30fps recording. If you record a big enough area of the screen, in can be really slow and the final movie stutters along at 15 fps or so. A lot of the videos on YouTube recording Minecraft on the Mac are done with Screenflick because it can get very high performance /smooth recordings.

Use Quicktime Player. To capture internal audio, download 'Soundflowerbed'.
Open Quicktime, click File/New Screen Recording, a black box will pop up. Click the drop down arrow and select 'Soundflower(2ch)'.
Done.
