I am becoming sick and tired of the increasing limitations of the Mac. Almost daily I am marginalized in some new way because I am a Mac user.
I encounter websites that don't function properly.
Services that are not available to me.
Files or documents that do not display properly.
Hardware that is only partially 'supported.'
Etc etc etc..
I am seriously considering switching to Windows.
Really.

If you need 100% Windows compatibility, you need to run Windows. By all means switch. Nobody here cares.

I don't need even need Windows compatibility, What I need is for my Mac to to be able to function in the real world and online.
Too many websites and online services are off-limits to Mac users.
I just downloaded a PDF file that Preview can't fully display properly...
The Mac can't function effectively in todays mainstream computing environment,

That's their fault, not the computer's, but those IE only sites are annoying. I was trying to update the firmware on a Netgear router with Safari and it crapped out, so I tried Firefox and it crapped out, then I tried Firefox on a PC and it crapped out... The only way the update would complete is with IE on Windows. I was annoyed at Netgear however, not at Apple or Mozilla.

I have been a monogamous Mac user since 1987.
I'm not going to get into trying to list every single glitch that I have encountered in the past 4-5 years.
Macintouch.com has a lengthy list of Mac Marginilization.
I will say that It would be nice to be able to watch current release movie through www.movielink.com or to listen to a few tracks at Napaster.com
I feel bad for new computer users who get a Mac and then discover that they are locked-out of popular services...

FWIW, Rhapsody is very similar to Napster and is compatible with OS X (and gets better reviews on CNET).

Why? I feel sorry for the businesses that have chosen to arbitrarily exclude between a twentieth to a tenth of their potential customers because, ultimately, it'll return to bite them on the arse (can you imagine a brick-and-mortar store randomly turning away every tenth or twentieth customer?). E.g. now that Napster offers a Mac-"friendly" service, I certainly won't use it. They insult me by shunning me for years and then expect me to use their service, now? F**k 'em. Not a chance. Just because one service doesn't supply a ridiculously high number of potential customers doesn't mean that there aren't or won't be others to chose from.

I'm currently having fun with an HP LaserJet 3200 and OSX 10.4.6 x86. It's "supported" in the way that the driver included with OSX does nothing (no page ever comes out), using the PCL 4 driver gets me all but the last page of a document, and using some other driver someone suggested gets me gibberish.
Driver CD from HP? Installs a bunch of PPC and Classic garbage that slows the machine to a crawl.
AppleDoesntCare? Completely useless. I paid $150 for 3 years of this phone service? Yow.

This thread is not about a specific issue, but a rant. Hence, it should have been started in the Lounge.
@Mark Pose your question in the peripherals forum, please.
