I need anybody's help who has been to Las Vegas before and can offer some insight/direction/advice/etc. on where I should stay...shows to see, places to eat...etc. etc...

I plan on going during the week...say, from Sunday - Thursday during late June/early July...

I would really like to stay on the strip from what I've heard; however, I don't want to spend over $300 for (2) on hotel accomodations while there for that duration.

We want to have fun, but also get the most for our money and are on a fairly tight budget for a trip to Vegas I am assuming.

Thanks...

Wow, coffee will probably run you around $300 for the week.

I've heard there is a hotel called the Itchy Palm that charges around $20 a night.

I have spent a fair amount of time in Vegas. This info is a few years old, so things might have changed. North Las Vegas is cheap, but very ghetto. I would stear clear. We found a cheap hotel on the southern end of the strip. I don't know the name. But as you drive south it's on the left. It's near the glass pool hotel. (see: True Romance)

You might be able to spend more on a hotel then you would think. Food and drink is cheap. Casino's get you in with cheap food and drink's thinking you will stay and gamble. The local food places have to compete with that. For example: The last time I was there the local BK had whoppers w/cheese for 49 cents.

Also plan at least one day at the local water park (Wet and Wild). It's on the strip (north of Circus Circus). Vegas is to hot not to go. That's spendy. 30 + per person for the day.

The palms is a great hotel.. inexpensive, not too big, and very nice rooms - only problem is their insistance on sluts (which is def a prob if you're married? -- unless you stay away from it lol)

Flamingo = don't be there before 1AM they never have non smoking rooms

All the big hotels are -- well ok. None of them are really that spectacular for the pice, last I remember the flamingo was 80's style.. same with the big hilton..

yeah palms is a nice hotel .. um what else

Oh yes.. when you go to vegas, plan ahead of time where you will be going as taxis USUSALLY don't wait anywhere BUT the front of hotels, the last time my mom and I tried to call a taxi in a store it took about an hour. [really depends what side of town and if you have the driver's number]

Hrmm what else? North strip = ghetto. stay away by all means at night (essentially anything past the stratosphere/old hilton).. you won't get hurt or anything it's just really crummy.

There's also the fact that the cheap food just means being at the right place at the right time. Keep in mind for conventional stuff there's at least a hundred 7-11's, 60 walgreens, 8 walmarts, etc.

But there's only like 2 near the strip.. oh and pizza places DO NOT deliver to hotels (usually), except for tropicana pizza which is crap.

Def check out the apple store there -- keep in mind (if I recall) it's in fashion valley or whatever that mall is called -- mostly high end expensive stuff in that mall hehehehee...

For the cheap stuff there's belz.. which is south past mandalay bay, about half a mile long (or is it longer I forgot), and only about a mile from our other house rofl.

Alas.. another tip - The security in las vegas airport is more stringent than most. If you simply say something to your wife or whatever while looking up you're likely to get an extra security check (which really sucks)

But Macarran is also a beautiful airport for what it is.. plasma and projected screens just about everywhere -- except there's slot machines everywhere too (people have blown all their money there before lol).

If you like seafood there's a good place back near the flamingo called (oh what the hell was it), oh Bahama breeze.. they're cheap but good.

Anyway hope that random bit of crap info helps Having been to vegas a few times now and actually eventually living there I love it, even though I hate gambling (which is probably why you're going rofl).

Oh one more thing -- if you plan to see the show on the strip (the pirate ship one), be sure you stay on the same side of the street as the show -- we were dumb enough to watch across the street and every 5 minutes a bus pulled up (made for an absolutely hilarious home video of me cussing out and going postal every time a bus came by) -- sad because a lot of the people that work there are MOSTLY nice.

Just stay away from the old white women that smoke -- oh god. :bangs head against wall:

oh have fun with this:

I'm almost positive that's the palms but it's probably newer rofl.

What you say is very true about fastfood places .. simply stay away from the mcdonalds near the strip hehe.

I recall going to a 7-11 and getting two HUGE slurpees for $1. lol.

One of the best info sites on Vegas is:

cheapovegas.com

I have been to Vegas 3 times in the last 2 years. I thought the Flamingo was an excellent lower priced hotel. Plus it's right in the middle of the strip and you'll save a lot of money on taxis and get a better feel for the layout there.

In the summer the pool is awesome too. But that doesn't really help you now.

CheapoVegas.com is a great site, I've met those guys a few times and they are a lot of fun.

Also check out my site, www.ratevegas.com. I think we have a lot of info that could help you out.

hehehe kilby.. I'll tell ya why I hate the flamingo.

The time I was there, the many times my mom and I went up the elevator, half the time we took the wrong one (it takes a few tries to get the hang of that damn place) and while our room was RIGHT NEXT TO THE ELEVATOR we would typically end up all the way on the other side of the buildings. >_<

Otherwise it's alright -- I still say there's better bwahahahha

I go to Vegas at least once or twice a year. Just got back about a month ago and stayed at Harrahs (pretty much smack dab in the middle of the strip). You can easily walk to Bellagio, Bally's, Caesars, Flamingo, Venetian, Mirage and Treasure Island (going by TI now?).. Anywhere else is a quick and easy cab ride.

We got our rooms for $60 a night by just calling them. Stayed a Friday - Sunday. Keep in mind that June/July is going to be ridiculously hot. For an ok room on a budget I would suggest Harrahs or Ballys. The best advice I have is find their phone numbers and call. There's no set price to any hotel room in town and talking over the phone will definitely land you a better price than going thru the web. Also, in June/July, since it's so hot, you are bound to get some better deals because it's a "slower" period (although there will still be plenty of people there for sure)...
