Considering buying a PB and wondering how they are for use outside in the sun? (something most stores are unwilling to let you try ).
Thanks,
Mike

I use my 15" PB 667/DVI in the sun once-in-a-while, but not for extended periods of time (if I have to look up something quickly, for instance). It's definately usable in the shade (under the shade umbrella at my friend's house, for instance) on a sunny day (with the brightness up full-blast) for quick lookups...

It's usable, especially if theres shade, but you need to turn up the brightness as Voch said.
My Palm Tungsten C's transreflective screen, though, looks gorgeous in full sunlight.

All laptops LCD's are virtually useless in bright outdoor lighting, sunlight especially. Check out LCD folding shades at Hoodmanusa.com.

As someone else mentioned, laptop screens are not very good outside for obvious reasons.
However, I have found my Rev C. PB 12" screen to be noticeably brighter than the Rev B. models.

I had to use a 17" powerbook (1.3 gig model) outdoors in Brasil in December the summer season there.
it was misery. VERY hard on my eyes.
in the back of one of the mac magazines you can purchase a hood that goes over your screen to give you shade...after my experience in brasil I would highly recommend that if you must use it outside.
