I would like to get a music editor (mp3,etc.) so that I can edit tunes to place them in imovie and idvd. Just something so that I can edit the length of songs, nothing more. Thanks.

You can change song lengths in iTunes.

Select a track, Get Info (Apple-i) --> Options --> Start time and End time.

Not entirely sure whether this gets imported into FCP and iMovie, but if not, you can reimport to mp3 (Advanced --> Convert selection to...), and the newly imported track will then be limited to the segment you've specified.

Is this what you're looking for?

I'm also looking for a music editor, but I'm looking for a cheap recording application that I can d/l and try out first, to make sure it works well with whatever mic I get and iMic or Powerwave. any suggestions there? thanks.

Audacity is a free (open source) audio editing program. You can also use it to record sound. I've only used it for basic sound editing so far, but it worked well.

You can find it on SourceForge:

Spheric, Thanks

2 Late however..., right now I'm kneeling next to my turntable digitalitizing some of my favourite albums, setting manually markers on the fly on a Philips audio recorder which I borrowed from a friend...
I'm-a trying to wonder, wonder, wonder why you, wonder, wonder why you act so.
