Anyone else has experienced this?

my iMac CD 20" with 2GB of RAM and latest system software doesn't react too well to (un)plugging of USB devices. though half of the time nothing bad happens, half of the time it does.

i experience freezes with my SanDisk cruzer 1GB USB stick. A friend, who has the same computer and the same usb stick reports not only freezes but also occasional kernel panics.
freezing-wise unplugging my sound-sticks and then plugging them back in usually does the trick, too.

Although I have looked through some discussion boards I haven't found any other reports. but my friend having a similar problem makes me think there must be others out there.
