Hello,

I searched this forum but didn't find anyone with this same icon problem. I restored my system from Backup (Apple's application) and found all the icons (small previews) on all my image files (.jpegs, mainly) were gone. They're just the generic .jpeg files.

Of course, when I click on the file in list view it generates a preview on the side. But I want the actual files to have mini-pictures again.

How can I force the system to remake the icons?

Thanks!

Under the View menu, Show View Options, check Show Icon Preview.

Thanks for a first stab, Chuckit, but I think it's a bit more complicated than that. I've attached a screen grab to illustrate the problem:

The icons on the top are the ones I imported from Backup. The ones on the bottom are newly imported from my camera. As you can see, the ones from Backup are missing their custom icons, where the newly downloaded files have them. It didn't used to be this way - prior to restoring, every picture had a custom icon.

So what I'm wondering is how to force the system to create those custom icons again.

Thanks!

P

This may or may not work:
program

Drag files onto it to (mby) create stuff.

It worked! Nice!

The only problem is it changes the date created to today, but at least it solves the icon problem!

I don't imagine anyone has any ideas for maintaining the correct date created...
