I think I am pretty clear minded but... is the Zune not a complete disaster? Is this thing selling?

Well, I've been keeping an eye on Amazon's bestseller list, where its highest position (afaik) was 8th, on its first day.
It's been gradually dropping, while holiday sales in general are moving upward. For a while, it managed to stick to the 1st page, but now, well... even an extra USB power adapter for ipods beats it.

Wow. Now at number 84 (for the black one - the other two are MIA). It'll drop out of the top 100 soon!

Dumb term. I can't imagine saying that to random hot chicks. Hey baby, how 'bout I squirt you real quick?

From The Guardian:
Then there's the wireless sharing. Steve Jobs dismissed this: "It takes forever ... You're much better off to take one of your earbuds out and put it in [a would-be girlfriend's] ear. Then you're connected with about two feet of headphone cable." Steve Ballmer defended it: "I want to squirt you a picture of my kids. You want to squirt me back a video of your vacation. That's a software experience." Which prompted the observation: "Steve Jobs can make sharing earwax sound sexy. Ballmer can make a digital file transfer sound like something you'd need to clean up after.".

The word "dodgy" is used in Australia and NZ too. It means "shady" or "sketchy". Or, if you want to be precise: "dishonest or unreliable : e.g. a dodgy secondhand car salesman. • potentially dangerous : e.g. activities like these could be dodgy for your heart. • of low quality."

No, not dodgy, I mean using the word squirt like that. Trying to make a word hip instead of letting the word develop on its own. You know, like the word blog.

Nothing wrong with the word blog. It's a logical shortening of weblog, which is a perfectly legitimate portmanteau word. A lot of words are made like that. Like "brunch" and "animatronics" and a million others.
But yeah, "squirt" is disgusting. Hm. What about "iSquirt."

Oh, I see. You're quite right. How silly of them. I'm sure they'd like to be able to influence us that easily.

I work in Corporate sales for a large computer retailer. We have it on display in two areas in the store. The only one that we have sold (in the 1+ week that it's been on sale) was returned last night. I would be surprised if it is still on the shelves this time next year.

Great article I picked up from Slashdot:
CHICAGO SUN-TIMES :: Andy Ihnatko :: Avoid the loony Zune
I don't know quite what they were thinking when they made this thing, but they seriously screwed up. From the article, the point is really driven home:
"You'll find that the Zune Planet orbits the music industry's Bizarro World, where users aren't allowed to do anything that isn't in the industry's direct interests."
I also need to add that Microsoft needs to ditch the term "Squirt", and ditch it right now. Who came up with that? Did that person spend any time considering what associations this word has, especially to their target audience?

Makes me wonder if you could hide some code in a JPG and execute some sort of script that deletes their music library.
