It was 2 years ago today that Steve Jobs unveiled iPod. I thought it would be nice to take a look back on the warm reception it received here on the MacNN forums.
Here are some threads I dug up regarding the iPod's introduction.

Sorry Apple, you got it wrong again.

iPod=Another Cube disaster?

Of course not everyone had a doom and gloom opinion of the iPod.

Its my birthday too oddly enough. And yes, I had the first gen 5GB iPod for my present as well after they were announced (convinced parents to get that instead of any other lame present they were thinking of).

23 years old and I feel like i'm 40. WTF?

I threw a birthday party for my iPod, but when I gave it its soda, it started sparking and now it doesn't work. I think it's diabetic.

Our 1st gen iPod is still going strong.

I got a chuckle out of those links, especially the one with Mr. Wiggles. I remember that thread!

And yes, that is my wife posting in it too, and giving Mr. Wiggles a good tongue-lashing, to boot! She didn't realize at that time that I already had the iPod on order as a present...

After having my nieces and nephew over this summer, I can't think of "Wiggles" without thinking of those gay Austrailan gentlemen who are a rung below Barney on the kids' music talent meter... (and by "gay", I mean Happy, of course! Whatever did you think I meant?)

I wonder if the people who bashed the iPod then would like to stand up and defend / repent? Mac Guru? Cpt cangarooski?

I myself are getting my 40 GB iPod today (or really my girlfriend is, after MY insurance covered for the loss of HER 15 GB iPod, while I'm stuck with my original 20 GB iPod )

Anyways, we all know how the story went. iPod is #1! Go Apple

You?

Everyone probably wants one, but $400 for a walkman? Nah...

Truth is, there's even less a markets for this digital little pet than for the cube. And with the slowing economy too? Bad move...

LOL! I repent, I repent!

Still, I didn't pay $400 for the 5 GB one. My collection was already a lot bigger than that then. I did for the 20 GB version though

Same here actually.

I loved the original iPod but just couldn't justify it at the time. Now I don't know what I ever did without one.
