okay here i am again on this thread. i have sent back one brand new powrbook 12inch w/80 gigger a week and a half ago with a faulty ram slot and white pixel. (Life goes on)

Apple gave the okee doke to an exchange.(thanks Apple!) and today i got this-

'Dear Valued Apple Customer,

We appreciate your recent Apple Store Order .....

Due to an unexpected supply delay, we are unable to ship the following
item(s) by the date that you were originally quoted'

rats.

but then i got this on it's heels in another email-

'The following products shipped on 05/05/2004'

I can live with that.

and i looked it up on Fedex

Whhoooo hooooo!!

Apples tracking page has suddenly spotted my Pb at Apple in Uxbridge. This "should" mean that it will be here tomorrow (Thursday).

Extra 512Mb RAM and neprene sleeve delivered today so good timing. Weekend frag fest ahoy. Ahem, I mean, at last I'll be able to catch up on my backlog of client photoshop work!

Today I ordered new 12" Powerbook from cwonline (UK) with an educational price. I also asked to have a US keyboard, but they said it is not optional although their website mentioned about the customising keyboard. Is this normal?

Anyone bought a Mac from cwonline education department recently?
I wonder how about their service....

Mine shipped last Friday and I still haven't received it...

I'm guessing that the reason for the slowness is the Golden Week holiday we just had in Japan (Mon, Tues, Wed) - I really hope there isn't a problem...

PLEASE PLEASE, GODS OF DELIVERY - TODAY.

TODAY.

Can't get a US keyboard on a computer bought in the UK unless you know of a reseller who's willing to get the part and install it themselves, I've tried.

Apple will BTO a dozen European keyboards for you if you're in the UK but there's no official way to get a US keyboard. I called Apple support to ask about this but didn't have my serial number to hand so couldn't open a case. If I have any luck with Apple support, I'll let you know.

For those in Australia you may be interested to hear that it took only 3 days to get my BTO (and very first) Mac - a 12" Superdrive 80gig 5400rpm HDD. Ordered it on Sun night (2 May) from the Apple Online Store, it shipped Tues 4 May and I received it the next day!!

Nothing to report wrong with it so far ... LCD is fine. To be picky, maybe I would have been happier if I had a hitachi HDD and not toshiba one - I've heard ppl report that the hitachi is quieter.

I never believed in love at first sight, but now I do. And it is sure much better than my first Apple computer - IIgs =)

oh GOD. I just rang up Apple. Turns out the delivery companies DON'T work during the holidays so I can expect my powerbook next week.

That will be almost 2 weeks of waiting since shipping!

Oh well I have waited through 4 months of hardcore saving, I guess I can wait another few days or so.

yikes it left taiwan yesterday and it's on a truck this morning for delivery here on the West Coast Americka. Now that is fast. It's taken a week for an order for some software from (are you ready) Mesquite, Texas. And it's still not here.

I look forward to installing Final Cut Pro 4 and Live Type on this 12inch 80 gig 5400 rpm drive.

Pray for no dead pixels.
and more importantly, I'll pray for peace. my government does not represent me. it's warmaking actions in the world are reprehensible.

Greetings to my pwerbook pen pals in Japan and Europe!

peace

I just got the email that my PowerBook is being shipped.

I ordered a 15" 1.5GHz with the 128Mb vram, 5400rpm drive, and single stick of 512 ram. I also ordered an extra 512Mb ram stick from Crucial, which is sitting on a shelf here ready to be installed...

Checking the Fedex shipping status, it looks like it's spending today sitting in Shanghai (they received it after their cutoff time). So it should go out tomorrow (Friday), and arrive in the U.S. over the weekend.

So my Pb spent all yesterday and today sitting at Apple in Uxbridge. Apparently it is NOW coming on Monday!

This is only about the 5th date that Apple have given me!!!! Still at least it is currently in an delivery truck. I just wish it could have come today so that I could have spent the weekend setting it up instead of wasting a work day!

Ordered a pizza from Pizza Hut at 7:51 p.m. 5/5/04 and it arrived at my doorstep at 8:32 p.m. 5/5/04. This was unacceptable so I got on the phone with the manager and complained that it wasn't at my house in less then 30 minutes, and when it did arrive there was a slice with no bell pepper on it, so he agreed to let me have it for free.

My powerbook shipped yesterday according to the apple order status, but their tracking doesn't show any progress and neither does the apecode thing.

How long did it take from shipping for it to appear in the apecode track? (UK people)

Around 3 days, IIRC - see my previous post as it details the whole shebang from date of order to arrival.

Mine did!

This is the first mac I've owned. *drooooool* somebody please fetch me a towel.

Oh I should probably mention this. My heart sank when I booted it for the first time and notice some 'dead pixel' looking things. There was one at the bottom middle of the screen, and about 2-3 on the left middle part of the screen. After a bit and they weren't going away I got some courage and approached them with my finger, they just turned out to be tiny flecks of 'muck' attached to the screen. Some monitor wipes later and the screen was perfect. Huzzah!

This is horribly painful, it's taken me months of convincing to finally get a mac but these last days are terrible. It's appeared in apecode now as having left Shanghai yesterday, from other people's experience that means it's not going to get into Holland until Friday so not get to me until late next week. argh. just.. too difficult!

Worst part was my applecare package arriving today to taunt me.

Ordered a 15" 5400rpm 128MB VRAM PB on Saturday at about 9:00pm EST, and got it this morning at 8:30 am (one day earlier than predicted)!

I payed the $12 to get expedited shipping, but I am still impressed with the service (usually FedEx messes up my deliveries).

It's my first Mac, and so far I'm very impressed with it!

Got my 12"/SD today. It actually came in yesterday so it was 12 days from time I placed order to arrival. So far it is perfect. Screen is much better than I expected, considering that some have been lukewarm on it. Very fast, superquiet. Outstanding!
