I'm assuming a) they were using a dashboard cam, which until this event had recorded 3 months of boring commutes, and b) swerving to avoid splash zone might have been more dangerous, depending on the other traffic nearby.

Almost positive it’s a phone.

Vertical video, plus panning from the driver-side window to the windshield.

"Slow down" and "speed up" are two options that would completely fix the problem.

If only there was a way to record a moving object and what lies in front of it without panning around furiously and wasting half the frame with your side mirror.

Slow down was what I was thinking.

I think a convincing display of the potential danger can be found in whatever the **** it was which launched itself onto the second overpass.

^^^ Did white car leave the scene? He should have just gone on to the next exit. Not wreck two trucks. At least two.

I’ve seen a longer clip and it doesn’t change the appearance the driver left the scene. They were caught, though.

I’ll admit, when I’ve missed my exit, I’ve considered doing dangerous things so I don’t have to keep going, but never flat-out stopping.

The resolution isn't quite good enough to see the cause. I'm guessing he's touching overhead lines. The wet road and tires are completing the circuit to ground.

Boat's fine!!!! Crane operator's pants? Probably not so much...

Is it just me, or are the number of crane operators who don't seem to understand "leverage" increasing, at least those whose exploits wind up entertaining us on the webzz?

I suspect that, in many places, the technical qualification for being a crane operator is whether someone showed you which levers do what.

It’s surprising how much operator error occurs with cranes, because right inside the cab there’s a prominently displayed table showing how much it can lift at any given angle and extension.

They put some headroom on those numbers, so when this happens the operator is really ****ing up.

Yeah... for various reasons, most of my social group doesn’t like me texting them car accidents (which is why I do it here ).

I had to send this one to everyone I knew. It’s too beyond the pale.

The number of cameras (both fixed and in people's pockets) has increased greatly in the last few years.

I think it's possible that there is a middle ground between "we see a lot more stupid crane operators because there are lots more cameras out there" and "there are a lot more cranes out there, and that means there are going to be more chances for operators to goof up."

Now, is that middle ground closer to "more cameras" or to "more cranes"? That seems to be the bigger question.

The article people were able to find said she “drove up the guide wire”, which I find to be an unsatisfactory answer.

Flaming food is a priceless experience, ESPECIALLY when your waiters set off the sprinklers. Plus 1 guys!

Driving “up the <sic>guide wire” only makes sense at a relatively high speed, OR if the driver intentionally put the front tire on the GUY-wire* somehow. I can’t see that happening, since the wire is still at something like a “normal” angle.

*This is one of my pet peeves. It’s a guy-wire, one homes in on something, etc., etc., etc.

High velocity was mentioned.

I thought it was guy-wire, too, but guide-wire was the term the cop in the article used, so I didn’t want to step outside my “messenger” job description.

The national anthem started playing early, so everybody needed to suddenly stand up.

See, this is why you hire more than one waiter. Yes, you're saving money with fewer paychecks. And your customers may be entertained. But they probably came because they're thirsty, not just for the entertainment.

It’s not just savings. Carrying a lot of Maßkrüge is a point of pride and competition in Bavaria.

Dude carried about 80lbs, in a very awkward position. Quite impressive.

Mister Roman (Sparkie) Candle deserves something for that. At least his burns. Maybe publishing his name and address so busses can drive by and let tourists point and laugh.
