not for release....yet. I haven't asked max yet and he's very busy these days.....I'm still dicking around with it anyway...but yes, 90% of it is copy and paste.

Yes

I was going to just say "You can get it when you download the theme it goes with" but that would be kinda mean because the only thing I have done are the titlebars/background colors/metal windows.

I may put it up for download when I refine it a bit more. It won't be 'done' though.

He's ok with *himself* allowing the downloads of *his* work...he is not ok with allowing *pieces* of his themes to be bundled alongside of other peoples pieces and then being distributed without his control or proper credit....at least that's what I'm getting from it...

Someone has full right to allow or refuse permission to release a theme. But to be honest, if someone is inspired bby someone else's theme, makes a mod and actually offers something fresh in the theme, then does the right thing and asks permission, then the original themer should see that as a compliment and not competition.
The modded theme could easily be hosted on the original COTL website and full credit given where credit is due.
So, why not give permission? Unless the original themer was working on a current variation and didn't want competition. Or it could be insecurity because someone else has done something with the original theme and other people were interested in it. Personally, as a designer, if someone want to take a shot at something I'm already done with and can make some change for the better, why not? The original design is still mine and the other versions don't make mine any less important.

Its a theme, it ain't gonna happen and ImDaMac is still a good guy and themer....and i've never even talked to him...

As for apps like safari? I just modified the ICNS with iconographer to greyscale. As for anything else, I'm still working on them.

I got a Mazda RX-8 promotional DVD in the mail - included in the tiny rotary engine-shaped disc was a couple of desktops, & I noticed one looks pretty slick with Max's Tiger theme, minus the menubar shadow - checkitout.

4imp is a favorite of mine. May I say I look forward to seeing your work, and hope that one day you'll share it ? For now I use a "stripped" Plaster (minimalized Finder elements), but I want less less less...

I'll bring up a point I have made in the past regarding this whole permission issue. I have yet to hear anyone answer this reasonably. Did the themers ask APPLE'S permission to make mods of THEIR theme (Aqua)? The answer is NO. As I understand it, and correct me if I'm wrong, a theme is a modification of Apple's GUI using THEIR resources. How does a theme become "property" of the theme developer? If someone modifies an existing theme and needs the original theme makers permission to distribute, then all themers should need Apple's permission to distribute their themes. Seems a little hypocritical to me.

"a theme is a modification of Apple's GUI <framework>using the themers resources."

*Most* themes have 100% original graphics and do not use Apples resources at all. Aqua mods obviously do. That being said, ImDaMac is the sole owner of the graphics in his themes.....
