Obama is reportedly setting up his transition offices tomorrow and is going to begin immediately selecting his cabinet.

What people do you want to see him appoint? What should be his priorities for his first year?

Once you wanted revolution, now you're the institution, how's it feel to be the man?

First 6 months:
  • Shut Down Guantanamo.
  • Enforce the Constitution IE: Habeas Corpus, Due Process etc.
  • Repeal the Patriot Act.
  • Enact all safeguards the 9/11 Commission recommended.
  • Have the new Attorney General enforce the subpoenas against Karl Rove, Josh Bolton, and Harriet Myers in the US Attorney Scandal.

That's just off the top of my head, I'll post more after class tomorrow.
The Religious Right is neither.

You won't get any of those. Next?

I don't know if Guantanamo will be shut down in the first year. I certainly think that Obama is going to start making the trials happen and start clearing the place out one way or another.

Second bullet kind of ties in with the first one.

Repealing the patriot act or heavily editing it will definitely be on his list, again, might be a bit much for the first year...

Enacting all the safeguards will take time for reasons out of his hands...

We'll have to see on the subpoenas. With Bush out of office they may not be as essential. I think this would be about Congress growing a pair. Obama is going to want to try to stay out of the partisanship.

Way too hot. I think the election closed the book on this one.
