His autobiography was really a hoot too. He was a comedic genius.

R.I.P.

Sad, I heard it on the radio coming in to work this morning.

It'll be much easier if you just comply.

This is sad. Neilsen got into comedy rather late in his career, and it's a tribute to his talent that he did so well with it. In his younger years, he was able to be Very Serious in a lot of roles that needed seriousness. He did really well with those roles-read his filmography for a very long list of work. But like Lloyd Bridges, letting his hair down brought us some incredibly funny work.

Goodbye, Commander Adams...

Frank: It's the same old story. Boy finds girl, boy loses girl, girl finds boy, boy forgets girl, boy remembers girl, girl dies in a tragic blimp accident over the Orange Bowl on New Year's Day.

Jane: Goodyear?

Frank: No, the worst.
Rumack: You'd better tell the Captain we've got to land as soon as we can. This woman has to be gotten to a hospital.

Elaine Dickinson: A hospital? What is it?

Rumack: It's a big building with patients, but that's not important right now.
Frank: We're sorry to bother you at such a time like this, Mrs. Twice. We would have come earlier, but your husband wasn't dead then
This week, I will mainly be watching Airplane, in honour.

It'll be much easier if you just comply.

RIP Leslie: You made a lot of people laugh in some pretty profound ways.
You will be missed.

One of my favorite comments regarding his death:

"If there's any justice in the world, the hearse will have flashing lights on top and will crash into some bins."
"…I contend that we are both atheists. I just believe in one fewer god than
you do. When you understand why you dismiss all the other possible gods,
you will understand why I dismiss yours." - Stephen F. Roberts

Great way to out with the Naked Gun Series. Was the missing component in an otherwise diverse career.

By far my favorite Naked Gun exchange:

Thug: Drebin?
Frank: Yeah!
Thug: I got a message for you from Vincent Ludwig
(Firing Gun) Take this, you son of a bitch!
Frank: I'm sorry, I can't hear you! Don't fire the gun while you're talking!
