Its not carbon fibre on the back, the texture is etched into the plastic, the edges are rubber.

It'll be much easier if you just comply.

Yes, I have a case-mate. Just the right amount of bulk/protection. It is hard rubberized plastic, which gives the right amount of shock absorbency and grip ability, without sacrificing its slim exterior design.
