Probably your friend does not have sufficient data bandwidth available.
The new Mac Pro has up to 30 MB of cache inside the processor itself. That's more than the HD in my first Mac. Somehow I'm still running out of space.

Thanks P. So the iphone it that smart? It knows that in advance, before I even make the call, all that and then does not put a facetime icon or factime text anywhere?

Oddly is says Whatsapp, but my friend does not have Whatsapp, never heard of it.

Does whatsapp connect to the mobile/phone/SMS network? I seem to recall getting messages before installing it.

Are you sure your friend's phone number is registered for FaceTime? Did you used it before she left the country? Does iMessage work? Otherwise get her to try calling you when she has some free wifi.
I have plenty of more important things to do, if only I could bring myself to do them....

W thanks,
don't understand a lot of that.

Registered for Facetime? Usually if two people have iphone it just shows as an offering to use.
