I've been using a Treo 600 for the last 2.5 years and it is still going strong. <knock on wood> I've been tempted many times to get the Sony Ericsson that SWG has, but I can't justify buying a new phone when the one I have still works fine.

Nokia 3100 for me. I've had it for 3 years (cingular) I think and it works fine but I am looking for a new phone anyway.

Does anyone have any unused unlocked (or tmobile) gsm phones that they would part with for real cheap since I also have a motorola v300 which I hate more than anything.

LG VX8100 with Verizon. Mainly for a bluetooth modem, but it does a little calling on the side.

I'll second that. The E815 is the best phone I've owned, despite it's quirks. But that's because I was a CellularOne (now Alltel) customer until last year. They had crappy phones.

I actually replaced my T637 with the w600i.

To answer the questions the w600i is much better for texting as the keys are a bit bigger and spaced better. More importantly it can send Text messages in the background, you can write them with no reception and as soon as it gets reception it sends it AND it has a frequent numbers list so you don't have to look up names every time.

As far as the walkman it is exactly the same GUI as an iPod so yes it is great.

I don't know about an MP3 for a ringtone though as I wouldn't want to put anyone near me through that.

Is reception really such a big problem in North America ? I hear/read this a lot that people are whining about reception in their area. I've never had a reception problem/dropped call in the past 5 years or so over here nor in other European countries.

I have a K750i.

I haven't had a dropped call in 5 years and my signal never goes bellow 3 bars.

The w600i is also a quad band phone.

Well, considering that the United States is about 3 times larger than the European Union, its somewhat understandable for there to be more coverage problems. They have a lot of space to cover but most of the highly populated areas are covered.

Canada is larger than the US but 96% of the population has cell coverage.

Rogers claims to cover 94 percent of the population and they cover this much of canada:

http://www.gsmworld.com/cgi-bin/ni_map.pl?cc=ca&net=rw

Now look at a company like Cingular:

http://www.gsmworld.com/cgi-bin/ni_map.pl?cc=us&net=be

It costs a company like cingular alot more to cover 96 percent of the population, repair equipment, fill in holes, etc than it does a company like rogers.

Canada itself, but not the population coverage. The US has more to cover.

It isn't that hard to crash the phone.
- Load a playlist when the MP3 file doesn't exist [it quasi-consistently crashes my phone].
- While playing a game, close the phone [the phone will then indicate that you have messages]
- While listening to MP3, the transition from incoming call to music is poorly implemented.

I've had the phone for a long time, and I believe it's my favorite phone (great reception, long battery, nice volume, 512MB memory chip, etc.). It's an A+ regarding a phone... but a little buggy regarding the other stuff (which IMHO, isn't all that important... but note worthy).

Sony Ericsson T637 (Rogers)

Works like a charm, syncs well with iSync and Bluetooth works as intended. I even use it as a remote with Salling Clicker. For more "integration", I even put an OS X theme on it

However, don't consider it has a camera: the pictures it takes are of horrible quality.

Samsung x475 (T-Mobile)

Doesn't really do anything beyond make calls, but that's really all I need. It's light and durable, and reception isn't terrible.

Motorola V710. Although i actually kind of like the art deco style of the phone, it's time for an upgrade. Actually, I need to replace it now as I've been having some issues with it and the warranty is up, but I'm holding out to see the next round of handsets Verizon will offer. I'm waiting for the RAZR V3m (I need a memory card and the V3c doesn't have one, or for something better than the moto to come along) so I think I will buck up the $50 deductible for the insurance I don't remember ever asking for and get this replaced for now. Verizon is telling me that the insurance company is replacing the V710 with the E815, so I get an upgrade while I'm waiting to upgrade.

And I'll be sticking with Verizon and their crappy selection of CDMA phones until someone else tops VZW's coverage

I wish Verizon would get that swanky Samsung posted above. Sprint is CDMA also, isn't it?

I'd really like a SLVR l7 or l8, or a w800/w810, but the truth is, who has the cash to buy one unlocked?

Current: Nokia 6682 - unlocked phone and running off Cingular network since Dec/05. The Symbian OS is pretty easy to use and love the memory card add-on.

Previous: Sony Ericsson T637.

I have a Nokia 6680 as my main phone, an MDA Vario (also known as Qtek 9100 and iMate K-Jam) as a PDA and e-mail 'phone', and a Nokia 6510 for my third subscription, for when I run out of minutes on the previous two phones.

In two months, the 6510 will most likely be replaced by a Nokia 8800 and will be used as my primary phone.

Yes, so I've heard. Fotunately, this won't really be an issue for me, since I'll probably take the T610 for extended holiday trips, and will use the e60 for every day business type things.

I also just read that it runs Google Maps…very cool!
