I just got my ibook a couple of days ago and it's the coolest computer I've ever used. My PC, in the other room, is jealous because I don't use it much anymore. However the other night I decided to watch a DVD, and every, maybe 15 minutes or so the movie would kind of stutter for about 2 seconds, then it would go back to normal. It seemed to happen every 10 to 15 minutes. I increased the memory to 80MB. Anybody have the same problem, or have any solutions? Thanks!

Yeah, you might want to turn off the network time server. That's in your date and time control panel. Sometimes it is looking for the time server and can cause those video skips. Also, try disabling Appletalk. Those are the two basic things that can cause video errors in playback.
Hope that helps. No time to go back to quietly watching the Applestore site concerning my order!

No problems here, watched a movie last night. I haven't touched the default RAM that the player uses. The fan DID kick in though about an hour and a half into the flick.... man that suprised me... it sounded like a shop-vac Actually it wasn't that bad... If you aren't sure whether or not your fan has kicked in, it hsan't, because when it does, you'll hear it.

Make sure you are not running IE in the background. My start page at excite refreshes every 15 minutes, and that would cause something like that. You might have a program in the BG that does this too.

I have had my DVD iBook since the 19th and I have watched a ton of movies on it, and I dont know if its just me but doesn't the iBook get REALLY hot playing DVD's???? I had the old iBook SE and it never got that hot, then again it had that rubber and thick plastic maybe its normal ( iknow it is) its just kind of awkward to have such a hot laptop specially playing DVD's and amazingly my fan ahsnt kicked in at all. and i watched 2 movies in a row just to hear it crank up and it never did......... I dunno maybe the fan doesnt' work....... Although Steve said that the fan will kick in when you are in a hot "climate" like he was talking about room temerature... i am not sure, i am not worried cause its probabbly normal but i wanted to point it out......

yeah, it gets really hot while playing a DVD. The ibook was sitting on my bed while the movie was playing, I don't know if that makes a big difference though. And it is quite hot in here... It kicked on during the movie, and turned off a few minutes after the movie was over and it hasn't been back on since then.
