i have an iMac 24" running mac os 10.5.1 all the other updates are applied and when i use software update and try to upgrade to 10.5.2, it asks me for a restart. when i press ok it takes me to this blue screen with one window and a status bar. the status bar says configuring updates but it doesnt move an inch. this has happened to me 4 times already. at first (when there were 2 other updates that also required restart installations) the progress bar used to get stuck half way through. and i had to power off. after this happened twice, the other 2 updates install seems to have stuck (i think one was ilife support and the other had something to do with quicktime). but the problem still persists for the big one.

is there no way to get this thing upgraded ? ive been thinking about a clean install but would appreciate it if i ccould avoid the hassle.

Try the combo installer. If that doesn't work, Archive and Install.

How long did you wait?

It sometimes takes *ages* with no apparent movement of the progress bar.

Oh yeah, check your drive with Disk Utility before proceeding.

So, I installed the update on my G4 Powerbook 15", 1.67 Ghz and waited for rwo hours for installation....got the BSOD I thought...progress bar not moving, machine seemed stuck....then viola, it rebooted and then hung on the gray screen....I powered down and then powered up; system booted for 10 minutes, then the desktop opened and all has been OK since.

Pn my iMac 17" Core2Duo installed with no issues at all.
