I think your advertising in the wrong market here at MacNN. We are all broke losers. We can't afford a $1500 piece of nostalgia.

Man, I want a Lisa. I do. But... I am a 23 year old student. I am nothing.

$1500 for a Lisa 2? She'd better be an improvement over the first one, that bitch wouldn't clean up after herself and managed to burn water.
Oops, thread blurring. I'm confusing this one with the shtty roommate one.

Yeah, it also had somewhat of an explanation of it in "The Pirates of Silicon Valley."

In an unrelated tidbit (tied in by way of auctions) a co-worker of mine just bid on the original "Wilson" vollyball from the movie "Castaway." He dropped out of the bidding at $5,000 with Wilson eventually selling for more than $10,000. The moral of the story is that there is a freak out there who will buy just about anything.

I've been to auctions at schools (with very rich parents - Larry Ellison's kid went there), and for something simple like a puppy dog, it went ofr something outrageous like $12,000.

yes, but when this happens, it's not because the dog is worth 12 grand- it's because the person bidding wants to give the school (or other beneficiary of the auction) the money, and the auction, the puppy, and other trappings of the event are to rally people's spirits for a fun night for a good cause, and to get them to come out and donate.
The auction then becomes a competition for who is the most generous, not who is foolish enough to pay large amounts of money on a puppy. The bidder gets to go home feeling good that he gave, good that he won something, and the school (or other beneficiary) gets a great big budget boost.
Yes, ebay gets ridiculous from time to time, but auctions that benefit good causes are good for all.

Actually, she let the water boil out and didn't turn off the burner. One hour later, one ruined pot, one smoke detector screaming, one fire-truck outside the apartment, and one ex-girlfriend about to pack up and leave.
Saying that she burned water more fully captures the essence of her total stupidity, just another OU National Merit Washout.

didn't know Ellison had a kid... Thought he was a die hard bachelor (not that he can't get careless or anything).
