Has anybody else had problems with Virex 7.0 freezing while trying to scan either the entire hard disk, or just your home folder?
I've tried this on three different model computers with 10.2 (6C115) and have had it freeze with the spinning beachball on all 3.
I'm using the newest DAT files too. It had worked fine in 10.1.5 on all 3 macs.
I've emailed NAI, but haven't heard back from them yet...

Get rid of Virex and do your Mac and self a favor. If you are really paranoid, use the on demand scan instead of their real-time protection or whatever they call it. I have never had luck with contacting NAI technical support and we have a corporate grant for 100s of licenses. Reminds me of their one update that simply killed our NT servers (NetShield) after a DAT update. Another pegged CPU% utilization to max. We switched to NAV on our desktop peecees and have no AV on our Macs.

7.1 works on 10.2. But no real-time protection, and a bug when you select all disks to be scanned. SPOD.
NAV is a processor suck on Macs.
bad bad bad

Does 7.1 have auto updates yet? Or do you still have to download the dat files and manually install them?

Where do you get 7.1 from? We have a license for Virex and after entering our grant number on mcafeeb2b.com I can only find Virex 7.0.0 .. no mention of 7.1 anywhere.
Is 7.1 whatever comes with .mac?
thanks for the replies!

Our corporate grant licenses did not entitle us to retail products. Virex was always a release or two behind what NAI had. YMMV
