Does anyone know how I could get album art from the UK store? According to the link you don't actually need to be signed into your account so I'm assuming this means I could get artwork from there somehow.

Edit: It seems to get the artwork if you have the correct album name and artist assuming that album is only in the UK store, but if there's 2 different album covers for the same album then you get the US one only.

Hmm..

How are all of you getting the album into iTunes? Copy and paste?

It's for people like me who don't want to give out their credit card # just to get an itunes store account for album art.

OK. There are a number of other tools out there as well. I've been using the Album Art widget, which I believe gets them from various sources.

I have a couple of methods for grabbing iTunes 7 art, and making it embed, available on my site today.

Nice

but why would anyone want to do this if there are apps like Clutter out there that do the job for you?
Even searching google (or one of the many artwork websites) and copy/pasting yourself seems to be less work!

Am I missing something?

Wait, itunes 7 doesn't embed album art in the MP3? That blows. Ugh.

I did a pretty good job of going through my collection and putting in art before 7, but I recently told 7 to add art and it found a lot I had missed and/or never bothered with. Is there a way to undo what itunes 7 did? Can I just delete that art directory, or will it screw things up? What happens if I put my own art over the iTunes placed art?

My sig is 1 pixel too big.

would it be difficult to write a script that copies the itunes album art into each tag?

Badidea -

Sometimes you can't find art that looks as good as what you get via iTunes.

ort888 -

No embedding, no. My understanding is that if you embed the art, it overrides the referenced art. Further, you shouldn't have any problems with removing the artwork folder -- just be sure you disable the auto download option in iTunes first. Note, too, that if you kill the art folder and disable art downloads, Cover Flow will have empty images (if that matters to you).

...and vice versa! But yes, that was the only reason I could think of and is also the only reason why I use the iTunes build in cover feature!

If you really want high quality album art: Josh's iTunes Album Art Grabber

edit: damn Apple - they disabled the artwork that you could get via this site! I never before notized that it was from Apple!

OMG your right! I thought all the time that iTunes7 artwork has a lower resolution but that was just because the pop-up window was not set to "actual size"!

What popup? Where'd you set the actual size thing?

The window that pops up when you click the little album cover in the lower left corner -> right-click, set size (or something like that)!

But I don't really understand this myself. Some pop-ups are tiny because the cover art is tiny, some are huge because the cover art is huge...but the iTunes7 cover art was kind of middle size (400x400?) even though the actual resolution was higher!

This isn't quite as nice as the old system where you could browse to the cover and use its link to get the artwork. When I search for "Faith" by The Cure, I get the original artwork instead of the remaster's cover (with no way to choose).
