Hi. The G3 AllInOne (G3AIO) is supposed to have a "geometry" button in the Monitors&Sound control panel. This button lets you set the monitor display area, rotation, etc. just like the front panel buttons on a modern display. For some reason, I can't get the "geometry" button to show up. Even the G3AIO web page ( http://hometown.aol.com/g3aioguy/home.html) can't figure out why some G3AIOs work and some don't. Apple TIL hardly admits this machine exists. Does anyone have any idea what to do, or where I could find a guru who can solve this problem?
Many thanks. Carl Witthoft

Have you tried to reinstall Apple Displays software? The latest is found at http://download.info.apple.com/Apple..._1.7.1.smi.bin

Thanks, but I've tried every Displays or Vision set from the stuff in OS 8.1 install thru the latest 1.7.1 set. No go. Has anyone ever seen Geometry control in ANY G3?

Wow, I'm having the EXACT same problem on my G4 with a 21 inch Apple display (the one with the three legs).

I can't adjust my settings! I've tried everything, and i can't get the geometry settings to appear.

I'm using 9.1, which is when the problem began....

GOsh, it only took a year for someone to follow up? :-)
Anyway, I now have ALL the solutions. First of all, only original G3-AllInOnes have the Geometry control panel. If you get a refurb it almost always has a slightly different ROM version (probably the "stock" G3) and doesn't support the Geometry.
But, There is a great little utility called DisplayAdjustmentUtility which Apple only wants certified techs to have. Luckily some of us renegades managed to get hold of it. It allows one to adjust desktop size, orientation, etc etc, in software. The later versions support G3AIO and iMACs (and quite possibly lots of other machines)
Anyone who wants a copy, email me.
Carl

Heh, that's awesome. Sure had to dig through the archives to find this thread :-)

This is discussed at length on this page, dedicated to the G3 AIO:
