I've actually intentionally tried to keep from becoming friends with most of you partly because it was pretty obvious that most of you have no interest. But I recently thought about some of the people I've unwittingly added to my iChat list and the fact that several of them I at different times have enjoyed talking to, and others who are more casual. Demonhood is fun to talk to, as is Zimph although we don't talk much. Recently over the last two nights I've really enjoyed having certain conversations I had with two individuals who's names I won't give since it might ruin their reputations on here

Do you find you don't enjoy getting to know the occasional person on an IM from an MB or have you made nice with some other MacNNers?

Umm, I don't sociallize with anyone on this board via IM, or any other way for that matter.

phizilla and i get together to make fun of suckers like you

specifically i met milhaus and starman at MWNY02. Had lots of fun, i wasn't sure if i liked starman on these boards but as i expected when you finally meet someone they are never as you expect them to be.

and i prey on innocent 14 yr old girls and join satanic cults online too. yes, internet is the antichrist!

yeah, like Undies said. i've got some good friends out of this place. we IM, we phone.

the internet is just a big network. it makes sense to use it; whether that be for business, pleasure, or just harmless stupidity of an evening.

if you just post then turn off, you're missing out. either that, or nobody wants to talk to you and you've finally gotten the message.

I've never talked to anyone on this board through iChat, but have using e-mail, but that's about it. Would like to start adding people to talk with though on iChat, since I need to start filling it up with people... I have 50+ names on my msn, and only 3 on iChat, it's sad... most of my friends all use msn, since I'm the only one with iChat, but i got 3 of my friends to buy a Mac soon, so I'll have them on iChat than.

I chat with Phil and Mindfad. In reality, I just use Phil for his large supply of Aria pics, and Mindfad I keep around in case he becomes famous someday . Well, there's this Misanthrope guy but I won't admit to chatting with him .

As APU said, I met him and milhous at MW a few years back. We had a good time (pics are around here somewhere). Someone's online persona isn't always what they are in RL.

It is rather surprising the differences between someone's personality on a discussion board and their personality in real time. One of my best friends now is a guy I used to argue with all the time on this one history discussion board. He's since come down to Virginia from PEI, and I'm planning a trip up to Queen's to visit over the summer (when all of the ice melts and the polar bears retreat ;-).

People I would consider real- life friends, despite having never met them is person would have to include Lerk, Philz, Maxelson, Boots, vmarks and MindFad to say the very least. Even Misanthrope can be a decent guy over iChat. And of course, WDLove is everybody's friend. I wouldn't hesitate to get together with any of them, were we in the same town at the same time.

I've spoken to a few people on iChat from the Forums. When iChat AV was in Beta I spoke to a few people. Most of my friends are on AIM just not many of them have a Mac. With the ones who do have a Mac I usually do Audio Chats with them and with 1 I do video chats with now that I have an iSight.

you people on the interweb are a mystery, wrapped in an enigma, cloaked in shadow.

That said, it's nice to put a face to the screen name sometimes. I've met a couple of you, and lived, and would do it again.

None in real life .. AIM'd with one or two from time to time. Guess its just like with the rest of the general population ... if chance or circumstance arose. Otherwise, it all just seems like some sort of Artificial Intelligence game I come home and play from time to time.

I speak to three of them.

edit: I had a video iChat with a MacNNer last week. That was cool.

i have met 10 macnners in "real life" (eaten lunch with most of them).
i have 47 macnners on my AIM list (only a few are people i've banned).
i have spoken to 1 macnner on the phone (on Sep. 11 or 12, 2001 even).
i have pictures of macnners on my website (a picture of the bunch of them is the most hit image in my gallery).
i have been engaged in conversation by a random attendee at Macworld only to find out that he reads macnn, and recognizes my name.

i have a problem, and my name is Demonhood.
