Seems faster but...

-It won't let me disable Bluetooth on my PB for some reason.
-Still doesn't remember LEAP networks, even the "wep <user/pw> workaround" doesn't work for me.

1. Close Safari.
2. Navigate to /Library/Application Support/SIMBL/PithHelmet.bundle.
3. Open bundle and go to Contents.
4. Open info.plist - You can use either Property List Editor or TextEdit.
5. Locate BundleIdentifier for com.apple.Safari.
6. Change BOTH MaxBundleVersion AND MinBundleVersion to 416.12.
7. Save and relaunch Safari.

This should work until an official update is available.

Is this new? or 10.4.3 comes with a feature similar to Photo Booth?

It's on AdiumX 0.86. I don't have an iSight, so can't test it out on iChat.

No, video snapshots have been included since 10.3 and iSight/iChat AV.

The countdown is updated though.

Nice to see that there are already some universal binaries out there.

I found some site called Katablog (http://katastrophos.net/andre/blog/?p=18) that did some before-and-after benchmarking of the 10.4.3 update.

Memory tests gave a 7% speed improvement.
Quartz graphics showed an 11% improvement.
The user interface test showed a 14% speed improvement.

So it's not just our imaginations; the update really is snappier™!

Maybe not an OS X problem... but for weeks now I have not been able to use iPhoto AT ALL. It crashes upon launch everytime. I have trashed .plists, prefs etc etc but still the same. I was kind hoping this update might have helped, but no...

Is anyone else having similar problems? I am thinking of doing an archive and install... or just loading the application via the cd's that came with my PB through pacifist...

I hope everyone else is enjoying this update though!

And Sportlight stopped doing annoying. On the other side: my computer still asks me for a wireless password every startup which it already has, the Dashboard widgets are still frozen if you choose it directly from Expose, and Spotlight still does not index the comments of iPhoto which are entered before the Spotlight index was created.

What a bummer.

Yep - since 10.4.3, I get asked for my System.keychain password on restart (this is new). Admin password doesn't work, but simply clicking "Cancel" will work fine, and Airport then connects flawlessly.

****ing annoying.

Before that, my keychain had already got to be a royal pain in the ****ing arse since iCal and Mail decided to require me to authorize my login keychain EVERY SINGLE ****ING LOG-IN.

I don't restart too often, but damnit, this is ****ing annoying the hell out of me, especially since the stupid System.keychain dialog blocks my wireless until I CANCEL (WTF!?), meaning that auto-mounted network volumes cannot be seen and need to be mounted manually.

I had this for a couple of days. Not a 10.4.3 problem I guess. Could be the last security update. It is annoying, but only happens on iBook. iMac is fine.

Good to hear Safari is as fast as the nightlies, they have been crashing on me when I click "back" or press cmd-[ more than once in succession.

Oh and randomly as well.

Safari has been stable though.

Another improvement: Normally, after I stop playing World of Warcraft (a resource hog), other apps take a long time to be swapped back into memory. It's about 30 seconds before I can use Safari, for example.

Now, however, everything works instantly after I close Wow. Memory paging and caching just got a big improvement, I think.

On the other side: my computer still asks me for a wireless password every startup which it already has, the Dashboard widgets are still frozen if you choose it directly from Expose…
Have you filed bug reports on these?

That bug usually means the password in the keychain is incorrect, and afaik, it doesn't update when you enter it in the dialog. You have to go into keychain access and change it there.

Heh, it's because the MacNN forum is broken. Half the time when you post, you get a "lost connection" error, so you try posting again, and again... only to discover it worked each time.

Posting new topics also produces this error, but alas, far from producing dupes, it keeps me from being able to post at all.

Safari still doesn't like Outlook Webmail, even the horrid basic version.

Also, the fans on my G5 are spinning up a lot more than they were... That's a bit annoying, especially in a shared office.

There goes the fans again. I hope it's just Safari so I can use Camino instead.

No mention of the problem where the Finder pretends the files I've saved don't exist and I have to copy them in the terminal to see them.

There go the fans again.

Haha...would be funny if that was the case.

Actually, I think I know what the problem is. Yesterday, MacNN was acting weird. After trying to post a message in the forums, people would sometimes get an error page leading them to believe that the server didn't complete the posting (when, in fact, the message did get posted)...so people probably hit the refresh button to resend the request to the server.

I almost fell for that trick yesterday...but I knew better and simply didn't hit refresh.

That's a cool app. It says my mac is 36 months old. No wonder I want a new one. Battery is still pretty good though (94% of original capacity).

In my case, I've got somewhat slower booting speed. The time necessary for the spining disc

below the Apple logo to start has distinctly increased. I use Powermac dual 2.0(early 2005).

Is there anyone who feels the same after installing the update? I am seriously considering

downdate(???).

A slow boot process would seriously cause you to downgrade?

I'm kind of kidding, and I got no time for re-installing.

I awoke up early this morning and unconsciously software-updated my mac

finding that the boot time has significantly increased... from about 20 seconds

to 65, which is so distressful. It's nearly forty seconds!

Actually, I've had a triple post when I didn't hit refresh. Just saw the error so clicked my lounge bookmark to find that I'd replied thrice.

Is this just the first boot after the update (which always takes longer because the actual "update" happens during that boot), or subsequent ones?

I only experienced the longer boot time during the first boot after updating. Subsequent boots were just as fast as always.

Just loaded 10.4.3 and I noticed that my dock had a space on the right hand side of about 1/4" while the left was against the side of the screen. I tried to "stretch" it to fit but could not get it to center.

I also noticed that Onyx now gives me an applescript error when I lauched it.

Safari does seem faster.

I experienced a longer than normal boot the first two restarts after the update. The second one wasn't quite as long as the first, but still longer than normal. Since then all restarts have been normal.

Has anyone tried 10.4.3 with a third party Airport (802.11g) card?

10.4.2 broke these, has support returned?

I had the same prob a few months ago. Launch iPhoto and hold down option and command. Then choose to rebuild everything.

Weird! I just tried that with iTunes. I launched it with command-option and nothing special happened. Until I tried to hide it. It wouldn't. I had to quit it and launch it again to regain hiding capability. Is that a feature?

What version of Webmail are you using? Exchange 2003's webmail, while lacking the IE bells and whistles, does an acceptable job for webmail.

In general no problems... but I'm sad to report iPhoto is still broken (iPhoto starts to collapse at around 17,000 RAW images)... crashes, hangs, inability to import, general flakiness are still the norm.

Another MAJOR annoyance: mds has become a runaway process, taking up all available CPU.

It's quiet until I launch Safari, and then it goes haywire until I force quit it (mds) or reboot.

Last time, I just tried force-quitting it, and it went on a binge again when I tried to put my 'book to sleep and has been freaking out again since I woke it up (~75% CPU right now).

Anybody know a solution? Time ain't helping.
