My colleague Kiwi Dave has an iMac. I happened upon the idea of using the built in camera to record him while he worked. It was Dave's birthday the day before and he had an absolutely rotten hangover.

When he left his desk to go to a meeting here's what I did:

Installed Quicktime Broadcaster

Used Dock Dodger to hide the application both in the dock and the alt-tab app switcher.

Set Quicktime Broadcaster to record locally and pushed the window off the desktop.

I got 52 mins of footage before he realised the little green light was on. A bit of an edit and the results are YouTube gold!

YouTube - Kiwi Dave takes care of business (office prank)

Has anyone else ever used a Mac to play a workplace prank?

If you had done that to me, I would be really angry. Especially if you posted the result on Youtube.

Ticking sound coming from a .pkg package? Don't let the .bom go off! Inspect it first with Pacifist. Macworld - five mice!

I had to cut out quite a lot of stuff. It was 52 mins long initially! There's definitely a fine line between making it funny and being cruel...

Well, it wasn't funny, and it was cruel to us.

Gasoline and a lit match would've made the prank funnier.

omg, what kind of person have I become?!?

Can you point us to time markers where it is funny? I watched the first 1:45 and was really bored. I can't even imagine how dull the stuff was that you edited out.

Try, perhaps. Fail - definitely, and as expected.

What are you going do - pelt me with feathers?

Is that what I've been swatting at? You know those flying roaches stain taffeta.
Behold, my fury.

You should have used this, though:
