That image is a bad example since I replaced it over the weekend. ;-)
It's now officially fixed.

These two however show what I mean:

Colors are too "flat" for my taste - hurting the feel of the image:

The green is supposed to be a kind of "out-of-this-world-green":

The image in safari is higher contrast and a bit more saturated (although a side-effect of the higher contrast may be deeper colors, giving it a more saturated look)

Convert your images to sRGB while exporting them. That'll eliminate the problem.

Yes, the differences are very clear to me. The color gamuts are different. But I am a photographer.

This is one of the reasons I use Safari for all of my web browsing. When done correctly, the differences are dramatic.

Changed the settings this weekend.
Sadly I only found out about this problem a few weeks ago - so my older shots only "work" in Safari and it's too much work to replace them all.

If his intention is for web use or for viewing on a TV. For developing and printing he's probably better off with Adobe 1998

That would depend on who the printer is. If you take it to the local drug store printer many will assume it is sRGB instead of looking in the file. Even the photo store I sometimes get prints at does not know how to handle a aRGB file. They told me that when they tried to print them that way the results were not as good. When I questioned the tech, it was apparent he did not understand what he was doing.

You may settle for substandard work, but I don't. I only work with shops that know what they are doing. I certainly won't have my pictures developed at Wal-Mart.

Most places will actually send you their ICC profile so you can work in their machines gamut. I only deal with shops that will do that.

And most printers at home will do a better job with Adobe 1998 than with sRGB.

Can we please stop with the attitude? I am glad that you spend all that effort on all your beautiful photos. Occasionally I am lucky enough to manage a photo worthy enough.

I think your statement is not accurate, for where most people go to have their photos printed. But that was not my point. If the printer assumes the sRGB and you give them aRGB your prints will be awful. That is what happens if you take your CD and print them at most kiosks. The same thing happens on the web. Hence if in doubt about their abilities give them sRGB. Is that not accurate? Or is everyone an idiot if they don't take or send their files at a high end lab that knows color spaces.

Most any printer will do a "better job" with aRGB, including ones at home as long as things are set up correctly. That is of course because the Gamut is larger.
