iPhone sleeping at right time?

my iPhone seems to go directly to sleep after i'm finished talking to someone and hit the end call button. it this supposed to happen? thanks

If they call you(while you are not using it) then yes. If you called them then no.

The iPhone auto-detects proximity to your face, so it's probably shutting off its screen on purpose.
