Since Leopard this has irritated me: each time a .dmg with a license agreement opens it shows a faded "panther"-X instead of a Leopard and now Snow leopard X (thought it would have been fixed now)

Anyone who has a solution to get the correct X for your OS?

I haven't seen that "x" in years. I suggest you take it up with the makers of tinkertool.

My problem has concerned all .dmgs with an EULA since Leopard.

(showing that Panther X)

Now tried to delete all preferences for Diskimagemounter.app and checked for that "X" image file in the resources of the .app can not find it. Any ideas?

It's in the .dmg as a hidden resource.

So then why isn't the default hidden resource updated to a newer X?

I did a little research and the ability to add a SLA to a .dmg hasn't been modified since 2003. Apple provided a resource fork to be added to .dmgs to display SLAs but they haven't tweaked the SDK since then. So, it's up to Apple to modify the SDK or someone else to figure out how to change the resources.

So my "problem" is them norm, and everyone experience the same as I do? (I have just tested on my two machines and they both have the panther X)

I did not really get that post with the image of the tinkertool EULA and snow leopard, was it altered?

(Installer.app has the correct X and the MacOSXInstallBackground.tiff [on my system] is not the one that shows in the diskimagemounter.app EULA)

Right, it's not a problem. All .dmgs with a license agreement have the same Panther-era X since that was when the SDK was created.

Ok, thanks for the "solution". That glitch is pretty unglossy to be 10.6.

Ah - sorry, my botch.

I thought it was in the installer, not in the DMG mounter. And I just checked: I do see the Panther "X" there too; I just haven't noticed in a long time, since I rarely install software these days, and much of that runs through the Installer, which has custom backgrounds supplied by the package developer.

Yeah, sorry, just referring to the criticism re: the evolution of the X logo and packaging
