I downloaded and installed OpenOffice 1.0 last night, and I have to say, I am pleasantly surprised with its ability to open my Office97 docs.

However, unlike my friend who got Windowmaker when he installed it, I got TVM, that nasty green so called window manager.

I have installed Fink, and followed some instructions I found on the web to install WM from the terminal, but I get this:

[localhost:~] cmahon% sudo apt-get install windowmaker

W: You may want to run apt-get update to correct these problems
E: Couldn't find package windowmaker

Help!

I'm not sure what is wrong with your windowmaker DL but...

You may already have both windowmaker and tvm installed.

To find out, use top to find the PID for tvm
then type
kill PID - where PID is the number for tvm
you will be left without a window manager running. Then type
wmaker &
to crank up windowmaker.

If that doesn't work just type
tvm &
to get that excuse for a window manager working again.

Didn't work.

Was there something in the installer that was meant to run, that I might be able to run again?

I'm not sure but I know that I used the installer and I already had all of the Xwindows stuff (Xfree86, XDarwin and windowmaker) installed. The Installer recognised that and just installed what was needed.

You might want to just delete the directory with OpenOffice.org inside and try reinstalling.

Your fink might just be hosed. Have you tried updating fink via cvs? Just do "fink selfupdate-cvs" and wait. Hopefully everything will be jake after that.

Good luck...
