I've been having problems with osx working on a dual monitor setup.

I have a dual 500 g4 with 768MB, external firewire, microsoft mouse, and built-in rage 128 and radeon pci add-on card.

The problem I'm having is that osx sometimes recognizes the monitor and works perfectly. If I try to restart, it tends to give me a grey screen on the radeon card. It still recognizes it as a dual setup but if I try to drag a window over to that screen, it locks up the system. Also, when I pull down the apple menu (closest to the other screen), the redraw is VERY slow on the fade out of the menu.

I can usually get the monitor to work again by shutting down completely and waiting a few seconds before starting up again (not always, though). I will sometimes also disconnect the radeon, then restart again. I can't figure out a consistent system to get it to work, though.

Anybody have any ideas?

SAME DAMN PROBLEM.

Dual 533 with 640 Ram, PCI Radeon.

X and 9 on different partitions of 1 drive. No extra wierd variables (firewire drives, usb floppies, hubs, scsi cards, pci chasis)

This is as annoying as the damn SOUND ISSUE! http://forums.macnn.com/cgi-bin/Foru...ML/002498.html

Let's try to figure this out!

Hey: check out this thread for a similar problem; perhaps they're all related?
http://forums.macnn.com/cgi-bin/Foru...ML/001767.html

And on a more relevant note (but separate forum):

NOTE: I am suffering from a similar problem, details in above thread. Referenced to save space. (OK it just seemed like the thing to do.)
