I've hit about a drink/day (occasionally 2). But I didn't really drink at all in college and as a married dude I'm starting to wonder if this is normal or not...

just curious

You missed an option. Some of us don't drink at all, which doesn't really fit the less then 1 drink per week category.

Ummm.. Define "drink". Are we talking cups of coffee? Bottles of Bud? Magnums of Champagne?

I don't have a regular drinking schedule. I drink with friends when we go out, but not always. If I drink it's usually on fridays or saturdays. I don't have a beer with food or wine, preferring water - but it's no rule.

I'm very ambivalent about drinking, but very particular as to what I drink.

You have to be an ex-alcoholic to drink less than a drink per week, if that is what you are implying.

I personally don’t drink any alcohol during the week (I can’t stand beer and seldomly drink wine, only combined with excellent food).

Granted I do sometimes get completely smashed at a good party with free cocktails and shots but thats the exception (4 times a year maybe?).

I’ll just take the one-year average and vote <1 week.

Actually, time I checked with Math, zero was less than one, so zero drinks per week WOULD fit in that category!

Back in the day I used to have a beer when I woke up each afternoon, sometimes a shot of something.

But since I turned 12, I only drink on weekends.

When I go to a club I tend to have more than 4 drinks... The question should be "how many times do you drink a week" or something like that.

Why oh why cannot you people understand the need for public polls? Seriously. Dude.

This year: zero (which = "less than 1 drink per week")
Lifetime: probably close to "More than 2 drinks per day"*

*No, I am not an alcoholic and never had problems with alcohol. Just gluttonous.

Mostly have a beer after work, sometimes not, but I make up for it on the weekends.

I'd say an average of a beer a day.

Some religions forbid drinking alcohol.

As for me, I seldom drink, but if I'm going to on a particular day, it will be a lot more than one.

Super Bowl Sundays are celebrated at my church. We set up a massive TV outdoors, and everyone comes in, tailgates, drinks a few beers, and generally has an awesome time together.

Except not really.

I'm a firm believer in a nice cold one after a long day at work. Especially in the summer. Often but not always a glass or two of wine at dinner, the occasional drinks on the weekends or some weeknights. Nothing's set in stone and I go for periods of time without drinking.

You know, the moderation thing.

I drink an average of about 1/day, probably a little less, and I don't binge drink (i.e., I almost never have more than about 3 or 4 in one evening). I should probably increase that a little, because 2/day is supposed to be healthier than 1 or none per day.

May be two a month in the summer, and perhaps once in a blue moon the rest of the year.

Something about having a beer after mowing the lawn makes the beer so refreshing.

I'll drink once a week or less typically. I drink "heavily" (I use this term loosely...as in 5-8 drinks) maaaybe once a month. I've never been hungover.

BRussell, one or two what? Beer, wine, bourbon? I probably drink 2-5 ounces of tequila every evening. For some reason, I have a feeling this is anything but good for me. What causes liver damage again?

I'm not trying to brag or portray myself as a badass or a superdude but a typical boozin' night for myself and my cohorts is around 10-15 beers, usually more, usually interlaced with shots

I'm very inconsistent. I'll usually have a few pints a week, but may go weeks between drinks. And then there are the weeks I average 3-4 drinks a day. I've only been what you might call drunk 4-5 times in my life and never really enjoyed it, but I am a fan of the solid buzz.

When people say "drink" I assume they mean standard drink, i.e., a bottle of beer, a glass of wine, or a shot of liquor. 2 to 5 oz of tequila is probably about 2 to 5 standard drinks, maybe a little less.

I had a beer on Sunday. I don't remember when my previous drink was. And it reminded me that having a beer by itself, without a meal, makes me mildly depressed when I "come down," though I never actually felt at all buzzed.

Sometimes I'll have wine with dinner, but that's not very often. And I do have the occasional mixed drink or more likely a shot of scotch on ice. But not very often. My "less than 1 drink per week" is nowhere near the "1 drink per week" end of that range.

Well I usually just have a few drinks on the weekend. But now that I am turning 21 on Friday I wouldn't mind having a drink at the end of each day. But even that would be pushing it for me.

I'm a social drinker. Every time someone says, "I'll have a drink", I say, "So shall I!"

A little WoW humor. Seriously, though, I don't drink. I have a bad family history of alcoholism, and really don't want to test it. Besides, I've never tried anything I liked.

That's what I meant. I've tried a few things but always regret the money I spend cause I haven't liked the taste of anything I've tried. I guess I'm just a tea drinker, haha. I drink tea or water with every meal. I like to drink Coke when I watch Xena reruns.

I'm not taking the piss, just a bit of humour. Sorry if you were offended.

I often post in the MacNN lounge after work, late at night, with a third or fourth drink in the gut. I usually try to be funny, but obviously it doesn't always come across that way. Sorry again.

I love wine, so sometimes I tend to overdo it. I'm cutting down though and now try to stock light beers only (yes, the kind that actually tastes good).

I rarely drink when I go out.

Depends on the wine and depends on the liquor. Heavy red wines with lots of tannins can give you a nasty headache. But so can dark liquors.

As a general rule: Don't mix your drinks, don't drink too sugary drinks, don't drink in excess.

I rarely have hangovers.
