Can anyone assist:

O/S: OS9.1

Issue: User comes into the office and is unable to browse the internet. User determines that he has an ip address of 169.x.x.x. User is able to access network printers via the AppleTalk/EtherTalk protocol.

Processes: User brought the adapter down/up, received a 0.0.0.0. ip address, brought adapter back down/up and again received a 169.x.x.x ip address

Network is using a DHCP server to assign ip addresses.

For clarification the computer is a old 8100 upgraded to a G4, I beleive it is using the standard AAUI, 10Base-T ethernet card still.

Thanks for any help.

169.154.whatever is assigned by the modem because the network (and DHCP server) cannot be contacted.
