I just learned that Peter Boyle died.
He was the father on Everybody Loves Raymond, appeared in Taxi Driver, played Frankenstein in Young Frankenstein and lots more.

Can't say I'm surprised. He looked terrible those last few seasons of Raymond (Hell, I thought he looked a little lost).

Anyway, loved the guy, and for some reason I always think of Outland when I think of him.

I was a big fan.

I remember him as Jocko Dundee from Johnny Dangerously. I forgive him for taking part in that Raymond show. He was old and made mistakes in his age.

Rest in piece.

I could take Sean Connery in a fight... I could definitely take him.

That is very sad.

He had that great line that went something like this when talking about his television wife Doris Roberts:

"What lottery in hell did I win?" (When talking about his wife and being married to her - wish I could remember the exact line.)

Yeah, he did. Did you know he was 81? I sure didn't.

I believe she had said something about being more than just a trophy wife.

That's right.

I wish I could find the exact line...

Here it is:

Marie: I'm not just some trophy wife!

Frank: You're a trophy wife? What contest in hell did I win?
His delivery and timing were impeccable.

Died of multiple myeloma, also, like an uncle of mine. Quite incurable cancer of the marrow and blood without much hope of remission. Sad.

Peter was active in the business for a LONG time. His move toward comedy was quite a departure, as he had already starred in "Joe" in 1970, a very serious role. Check out the IMDB page on Peter Boyle. They list 93 films and television shows (not individual episodes, individual series titles). Wow!

He'll sure be missed.

Bummer, I remember spotting him in taxi drive as that guy from that one X Files episode, then again in Frankenstein.

I thought he was really good in Raymond, or maybe they just reminded me a lot of my grandparents

I GOT WASTED WITH PHIL SHERRY!!!
