I found this the other day. The really cool thing is that it was literally about 12 feet from my door right in my yard where I had dug up an old stump a couple of years ago. I guess I must have turned it up and the weather finally finished uncovering it.

My area is famous for its arrowheads. Especially right where I live apparently. My brief research tells me that it is probably from what is called the early woodland period which would make it about 2-3 thousand years old.

It'd be really sweet if the tip wasn't broken off.

So, what have you found that you think is cool?

I once found a geode on the lake shore. It was a perfect sphere with a perfectly round peephole into its yellow, crystalline interior.

Sadly, I dropped it while carrying it home and it smashed into pieces.

I found a cool fossil in the Catskill Mountains in NY - I'm up a couple of thousand feet above sea level on a nice plateau where I found a rock embedded with sea shells of great antiquity.

I keep finding iridescent snail shells just outside my front door. And sometimes hedgehogs going at it like they've just got out of prison.

When I finish a book, I hide something of minor significance between the pages before I put the book away. When I go to read something again years later, I get a little glimpse into the context of when I read that book last from the newspaper clippings, forgotten photographs, ticket stubs, pressed plants, etc that I find inside.

Thanks for putting the arrow head next to your find so we can see the scale of it. Fascinating!

BTW, it looks like the tip is entirely intact. It is supposed to be black and bent like that.

I found a 50 euro note in the middle of the african bush once.

Bet some lion was cross they dropped that. It can take a lion ages to earn 50 euros.

I agree that the tip is broken off. The end on the LEFT should be the shank. It has to be narrower to allow for it to be bound to the shaft.

No, I agree with Railroader. I actually own an identical specimen and nothing's broken off of it - that's what it should look like.

I have a similar one. Mine is the same color and says "HOME DEPOT" on it. Looks like the one smacintush stumbled upon is in fact, intact.

Huh. If that's the case, then this must be a spear tip instead of an arrow head. It's cool no matter what.

My mom found a fossilized dinosaur tooth. Still not sure which one its from, keep intending to take it to the university.

I think it might be a megladon, looks like a gigantic shark tooth.

This used to happen at a previous residence of mine. It was birds that were done eating what's inside, and using my porch as a trash can.
