To paraphrase Winston Churchill, I consider iTunes to be the worst form of media app, except for all those other forms that have been tried from time to time. My primary complaint is that there is no good option for iTunes to add metadata to existing files. Is there a program that will update iTunes file metadata from publicly available databases?
I have a ton of music. Almost all of it is from my CD collection, ripped to FLAC or straight AIFF many years ago. Lots of the metadata is incomplete (e.g. track number or genre or album art is missing), some incorrect, and many don't have artwork in the first place (or good hi-res artwork). A lot of it is also stuff that iTunes doesn't really have - a ton of old blues and jazz in particular, along with smaller/indie artists and so on. So iTunes won't even so much as update the album art - it just doesn't have most of the artists.
This is driving me nuts. I started going back and doing it by hand, but it would take months to do hundreds of old albums manually. There's got to be a better way to do this, right?
